Tennessee Titans sue Lane Kiffin

So who is not telling the truth? Yesterday...Kiffen said that he has talked to Fisher and he now understands the timeline and everything was OK now..... Fishers says that Kiffen left a voice mail..... Today Fisher and crew file a lawsuit...Fisher must not have understood the timeline as good as Kiffen thought he did....

Someone may need to contact Al Davis for clarification...

The state court (per the lawsuit) apparently is allowed legal jurisdiction over Kiffin because of his residence in the state from Dec 2008 to Jan 2010 (apparently he stills owns property there); his working at UTK; his contacting of 5 coaches who were residents of and employed in the state of Tennessee; and since he has engaged in business and commerce within the state
That's what they are trying to use to keep it in state court. Chances are, this one will get removed to Federal Court in short order.

voice mail came afterwards not prior to the actual incident

The only word we had on Fisher being okay with this is what Kiffin said to the media afterwards

and really the suit's being brought by the Titans as a whole, not Fisher alone (more the front office / organization). If anything at the very least it could all be done to set up a precedent so that NFL teams don't have to worry about their coaching staffs being poached off in a similar manner in the future.

The vast majority of coaches have such clauses in their contracts. Less and less often does anyone adhere to the protocols. Nobody ever sues. Why? One, I can't wait to see the Titans try to quantify their damages. Further, nobody wants to look like a whiner.

I don't know Pola's contract but there could be salary costs they want to recoup as well as the expense of searching for and hiring his replacement. Suing Kiffin doesn't make someone look like a whiner. The man conducts his business with a flame thrower.

Not to defend Kiffin, but dont we live in a world where we dont have to honor contracts anymore? So whats the big deal? Fisher had it coming. He fired the previous RB coach for no reason. Ya know the guy that coached CJ to over 2,000 yards. Now hes getting a taste of his own medicine. The Titans are known to cut coaches and cut players with out even as much as a phone call. Just Ask Kyle Vandenbosch, Eddie George, and Keith B. And didnt Fisher fire his OC over the phone? Real classy. If you can get fired for no reason then you should be able to quit for any reason.

I'm pretty sure a contract's a legal binding document

And really somthing like this isn't at all about karma, on either end

You ARE allowed to quit for any or no reason. But if you're bound under the terms of a contract, as Pola was, then you can't violate those to jump ship and then hide behind the "I quit" shield.

I feel your pain, but I'll be giving extra credit/second chances for those contributing to the downfall of that pompous, obnoxious jerk wearing red and yellow.

The salary issue is between Pola and the Oilers. It has nothing to do with Kiffin or USC. Again, they've already said they are promoting from within. Can't wait to see how much they say a walk down the hall put them out.

Over or under 3.76?

How do you know that?

There could have been a number of reasons and all you need is one. Not liking the guy is nice easy guess to start with.

And the Titans cutting players without a phone call is not true. Keith Bulluck and Kyle Vanden Bosch's contracts expired and they were unrestricted free agents. Eddie George wouldn't take a pay cut so clearly they talked to him about cutting him.

Please stop making things up about the Titans just because you don't like them.

It's not the poster's fault.

Looks like he got the lk virus. Give him a couple of days and he should be fine (after monte's kid opens his trap again).

Wow, Lane's inexperience is really showing. Wasn't the whole reason for making his dad come along to give Lane advice. Or maybe his dad is not that smart either! How much effort does it take to call a head and ask to recruit a coach.

Let's not forget.

I blame monte for obviously NOT raising his child in a healthy fashion. I'm thinking the kid hatched and monte found him.

Violate on.

It's his mode of operation. He'll never change and will eventually go down in flames. So glad he is far away from our program.
