Tennessee vs. Kentucky in the Sweet Sixteen. Are you nervous?

No more than for any other Sweet Sixteen game. When you get this far, you probably will be playing a pretty good team. If UK can beat us 3 times in one season, they will deserve to move on. But I believe we’ll be ready to go. Line up and let’s do it.
Exactly. If they beat us, they will have definitely earned the elite 8

I get that sentiment but the OP has a point here. This would be Kentuckys greatest achievement in a long long time. Not only sweeping us 3-0 but ending our season and catapulting their new coach with momentum while ours is aging. Losing this game means far more to Tennessees welfare and psyche than Kentuckys.

Ridiculous.

We’re a legit top team in the country. Kentucky is not. You can just tell that they’re not in the category that Tennessee is. Kentucky would never beat Auburn in the SEC tourney.

It looks like KYs best wins were Duke and Florida. However those wins were early in the season. They have also lost to a number of bad teams. Alabama has destroyed them 3 times. Any Bama tips that might apply to us?
The thing with Bama wants the game to be in Formula 1 speed. They want to zoom up and down. Kentucky wanted to get into sets. We are closer to Kentuckys tempo. Our best chance to score fast is in spurts from turning them over. Bama got rebounds and outlet passed and down the court they went and Kentuckys guys aren't Secretariat. They looked at back of Bamas jerseys as they raced to the rim.

Not sure what reports you’re seeing but no game times are announced until tonight’s games conclude. If anything you’re seeing random predictions from nobodies like me. Based on the matchup and past tournaments where you have a 3 vs 2 game featuring a program with a large ratings draw, I expect this to be one of the late games on Friday.
I stand corrected. We play the first game, 7:39 tip.

Going to be a nervous week for this one
We have to score at least 80 pts to beat them and that is a tall order for this offense. We're going to have to stop running the play clock down every possession and get some fast break points. It's maddening to watch us steal the ball and then wait for all five to get set on the offensive end to try and take a shot. The UCLA game turned when Lanier stole the ball and went right to the hoop for an And 1.

I think they are relaxed….they sure looked it today. A brand new coach, and every player is new to Kentucky. No one expected them to even make the tournament. They are playing with house money.
Plus the odds of beating a top 10 team 3 times in a season are low

Historically bad shooting for us in both games against them. I think we literally shot 19% in the first one and 5 of 33 on uncontested shots. It was a case of beating ourselves more than anything. Shoot even in the upper 30s, and we probably get the win. Better would be great.

According to STATS LLC., there have been 981 similar matchups across Division I college basketball over the past 10 seasons. The teams entering the third game 2-0 are a combined 710-271 (.724 winning percentage) in the 3rd meeting.
Thank you. I have been wondering about this. I figured it was hard to beat the team twice but EZ to beat them the third time.

Their length (esp frontcourt) and athleticism gives us real problems on both ends of the floor

They shot 50% in both games overall and from three. We shot 24% and 16% from three. They shot well above their average and we were way below. If both teams just shoot closer to their average, we’ll win.

Kentucky has been playing out of their minds lately.
They blew a 10 point lead to mediocre OU and had to have a last second shot to win. Then they got blown out by Alabama by 30. I’m not sure beating Troy and St. Mary’s after that qualifies as playing out of their minds.

Can't complain about getting Ky in the third round. I don't see anyone with a significantly easier game besides Texas Tech. KY is on par with the teams the 1 seeds are playing.
