"Tennessee will get Hammered like a Nail"

Absolutely, he is worse. Those three have not been charged with ethical charges. Calhoun has rules violations, but not the same charges as lying to NCAA investigators. In fact, his staff that did lie are no longer employed. The old argument that they all cheat is easy, but doesn't fly without factual information that you or anyone else doesn't possess.
Yeah, ole Calhoun threw those 2 under the bus and then expressed outraged that he was somehow at fault for what goes on in his program. Please.

Nobody that I know is saying that Pearl did not lie. Does the factual information that he came back and owned up to the lies, mean anything? Only time will tell.

The old argument that they all cheat is basically true. The all just don't get caught or get caught trying to cover it up (in Pearl's case).

Again, refuse to hate on the guy. Others can do as they wish.

If Calipari is cleaner than Pearl then they should just shut down college basketball.

So, in other words, you just made up all of this stuff about all these other coaches being as bad or worse than Pearl.

I don't have access the the NCAA's information. But the fact is, based on the history of the NCAA, they don't have enough resources to catch every single infraction.

Bruce Pearl got caught and will severly pay for "getting caught."

Maybe because the other half of your post had nothing to do with that first paragraph. I didn't distort what you were saying at all. You're just using that because you don't have a response.
My response is that I don't hate the man and that was expressed in what you conveniently failed to post.

Anyone who believes that Calhoun told the truth about not being aware of what goes on in his program must believe that Pearl did not recognize his own home.

The 'AA choses what to go after. In Calhoun's case they let it 'lie'.

I really like this new approach. Calhoun lied too, but the NCAA just wanted to go after Pearl and forget about Calhoun's lying. It really is desperation time in making up s*** trying to defend Pearl. Guess the NCAA is simply a "Pearl Hater" too.

but as a coach wouldn't you realize this and know that when they do come after you there's probably a reason? Doesn't common sense lead one to believe that they don't go on wild goose chases without some evidence?

Not really. How could Pearl have known they had any evidence since all they did was show him a picture of his house documenting the violation.?

Yes which is why he'll pay severly. But I don't think that getting Pearl off the streets will result in a much more ethical NCAA.

but it might serve as a damn good shot across the coaching world's bow.

I think most if not all were.

If thats the case and UT decides to fire Pearl I'm fine with that. I hope for a strong punishment for Pearl. I just don't see UT firing him. He deserves it, but probably won't get it unless something very major happens that UT isn't expecting.

Doesn't matter what they do. Pearl is more important than the program. We keep him regardless of the damage he causes. We'll see how good of a coach he is with absolutely no elite talent.

Exactly like he did when he first came here. What elite talent did he have at that point?

Well, I can certainly think of some players he inherited that I would much rather have than the current players that Pearl recruited.

he had an NBA PG and a great college shooter on the roster. Unfortunately we don't have either right now

He also had a post player that could play circles around our current posts. Guess facts are getting in the way of supporting Pearl again. There was also another guard that could play on the current team without any question.

was that before or after MH kicked BP in the a**?

Yeah, he sure did -- here's a promise for $8M over the next 5 years, putting Pearl in the top-10 in coaches in college basketball. Wow -- what a real kick in the a**...

Were they? I don't know. Thats why I asked the question.

Every single head coach was fired. One of the few assistant coaches who wasn't fired was Todd McNair, and the fact he hadn't been fired didn't help USC's cause when they went before the Committee. McNair was then fired before the show-cause order went into effect.

We are the only program EVER that I know of that has tried to keep a head coach accused of unethical conduct.

Thank you. I appreciate the info.

What post player would that be?

I'd probably take Major Wingate over Brian Williams. There's not a huge difference, but Wingate was better offensively.

Are we seriously going to argue that major wingate was an elite player?
