For as long as people have broken the law, sinned or committed wrongs, there have been attempted justifications. doesn't make the wrong right.

This "he isn't the only one" crap is the same deal. He got caught and will pay the price. Don't over complicate it.

Nope. Hamilton just looked at the situation and said, "It's ok, Bruce. Every coach lies, conspires to get his coaches to lie, and conspires to get recruits and their parents to lie. The fact that the 'AA is going to lay the hammer to both you and the program makes no difference because everyone's doing it these days."

I just don't want people to forget how crooked the NCAA has been for many years before Pearl, and will be many years after Pearl. pearl didn't add much to the crookedness of the NCAA.

proof? You actually want a list of all the coaches who haven't looked an NCAA investigator in the eye and lied to him? Might take less time to got he other way- you list the ones you know have done it

i'd say the conversation had more to do with the close relationship the two have.

Absolutely. They really didn't discuss the impending doom Pearl has caused; they just reflected on what good buddies they are.

Actually, when it comes to big time (if that even exists anymore) college basketball then garbage = truth.

Calipari, Calhoun, Stansberry right out of the box. So Pearl is worse than these 3 gents.

since it's basically out of their control, what would they discuss? possible scenerios and outcomes?

I doubt MH thinks Bruce Pearl is a liar. If he did, he'd probably no longer be coaching at UT.

Right. The fact that Pearl has admitted to a string of lies resulting in 8 major violations suggests he's actually a pretty honest guy. Good point.

The thing that prevents this from being a case where people can claim it's the 'AA unjustly punishing Pearl is the fact he lied directly to them. The 'AA is a joke and always have been. But Pearl made their case for them.

I don't get all the arguing here. I think it is safe to say that most people here realize Pearl will be punished for lieing to the NCAA. I haven't seen one person argue he won't be punished. The only debatable thing is whether or not he will be fired, and that has been beaten like a dead horse already. No one knows but the board and Hamilton whether or not he will or won't be. Can we move on until we actually here what the decisions will be? I highly doubt it, but I figured I would try. Carry on...
