Had to ****ing beat a confession out of him IMOFrom this morning's Times Free Press:
"I understand it's been a topic of conversation in Knoxville," he said with a tiny smile. "So let me clarify something. I know I was responsible for both the good and the bad because I was the head coach. I know I had responsibility."
That's all I was hoping to hear from him.
Wiedmer: Phillip Fulmer takes responsibility, likes UT Vols coach Butch Jones | timesfreepress.com
I know several guys that played for him. They all love him. I've gone on the record on numerous occasions about his affability and loyalty. The reason it is such a sensitive topic for some and people get so emotional defending his record is because he was so much more genuinely likable than Majors. That's not the context of this debate though. it is about his performance as head coach over the last 7-8 years of his tenure. This is about his coaching as far as I am concerned. I won't debate he's a great guy and loves the university, although he doesn't love it anymore than Johnny. Him being a nicer guy doesn't mean he is more Vol than Johnny either.
those that doubt fulmer should go back and watch video of him behind the scenes. my man is all vfl. gave his all boys. period
Doubt what? I know he is VFL. That's great and for that he should always be admired. That still doesn't give him untouchable status as coach. Especially when the program trended downward and we were getting blown out far too often both at home and on the road. There was no evidence he could turn it around due to the FACT he hadn't done it before. Also, you have to look at the roster he inherited in 1992 vs the one he left in 2008. That is some pretty strong evidence of his complacency and comfort.
AT UT it is not ok to not be able to defend your home field against your biggest rivals.

Well, now. Fact-Fulmer HOF Coach....Fulmer 2nd in winning behind Neyland....Fact....Fulmer and company brought home the hardware.....Fact....We only have one big rival and it ain't Floriduh.
Fulmer isn't our coach anymore. His firing was justified.

Last 20 = 4-16 vs UF. Couple wins during the Zook period.
He was a HOF coach in the late 90's and possibly count 2000-2001. After that. Not so much.
