The Liberal Argument for a Higher Minimum Wage

Lol, it's called reality. I vote for the most Liberty minded candidates, speak about the advantages of liberty to friends and colleagues.

Maybe we need the tree of liberty refreshed. Are you willing to lead the charge?

How about some middle ground between falling in line and violent rebellion?

So you believe that undercutting low skilled labor is the middle ground?

Undercutting has nothing to do with it. If the question is "how do we rebel against unjust laws?", then yes....disobedience seems like a reasonable middle ground approach.

Do the charts have greater or lesser impact if adjusted for the impact of significant forcing variables such as for population increase, illegal immigration, etc.?

Undercutting a significant portion of the population needed to bring about change has everything to do with it.

Not going to change a thing.

What do you mean? On the macro level, I am not affecting any change as an individual, but collectively people rebelling with me have had a great effect on the macro level.

For example, state marijuana laws are changing everywhere.

Undercutting low skilled labor has everything to do with getting unjust laws "repealed"?

Please elaborate. I have no idea what you're talking about.

You want low skilled workers to vote libertarian? I certainly do, then don't stack the deck against them by making them compete with essentially slave labor and then play it off as the free market.

Not sure how I'm stacking the deck against them. Immigration is a natural phenomenon. Government is trying to stop it, but is inept. I am not doing anything but standing here watching.

Do we have more unskilled workers compared to the past? I would bet as a % of the population we are doing better than ever...

I would bet the basic skills required by employers have increased which has created more unskilled workers. The last 12 years of stagnant economy has added even more. The older people seen working at McDonalds are not unskilled, just no other jobs available.

I agree that government is inept at most things. The wage of illegal workers that are vulnerable to be exploited is no where near the value in a free market. Therefore legal workers find themselves at a bargaining disadvantage.

"Exploitation wages" and "slave wages" are contradictions in terms. But I agree that the government is inept at everything except creating lines.

There's more than one way to fight tyranny. I've already mentioned jury nullification as one of the best weapons.
