it completely baffles that Beane can do so well drafting and wheeling and dealing for young pitching talent, but can't bring in young up and comers to make a difference in the lineup. It's become beyond frustrating.

That's what happens when you believe more in spreadsheets and graphs than eyeball scouting and opinions of guys who have made their livings on their instincts about baseball talent.

we've had this debate before, but I don't buy it. I just don't think he puts nearly enough stock in offensive numbers. He values defense and pitching way more than offense. He needs to find that middle ground

Well it's like eight days now. It appears Ross is going to get called up for a start or two, which could be bad, but Straily will likely be the rest of the season answer. It all really depends on if Anderson can look like he did in his first start back the rest of the way. I don't think it hurts the A's as much as the media is claiming.
