The Oakland A's- MLB's ACTUAL AAA team

So if the A's tank, we all know who to blame

yea, it might seem crazy, but baseball is about superstition. Don't screw up a good thing. Thanks to our mod for changing something that was just fine as it was, the A's suck. Don't reinvent the wheel if it's not broken. Yeah, maybe the trade doomed them, but it was seriously jacked up to change the thread title.

No idea. Maybe someone was just tidying up or something. If the As go on a massive losing streak now, I'll hunt them down. :)

I changed it.

I figured since they've been so awesome lately and are going to the playoffs again that I would change the thread title and you wouldn't mind. Guess I was wrong.

Just saying.

Whether it was zjc or losing the heart of the team in Cespy for a extremely glorified seventh starter, the team is done and I don't think adding Adam Dunn is going to matter.

this thread "might" see a little more action starting next season as the Nashville Sounds appear the favorite to become the A's new AAA affiliate.

Too bad Billy decimated the farm system for pitching that we don't need and can't keep.

What a crazy game. Sorry, Bill.

it was the A's season in a game. Start out red hot, do everything right, hit a snag and just roll downhill from there.

Beane decided to fix what clearly wasn't broken and broke the A's. Literally and figuratively.

Yep. It's a sad end to this season. The good news is we have atleast 30 million to play with this off season.

The Athletics fell to 0-7 in winner-take-all postseason games under GM Billy Beane; Oakland's last win in a winner-take-all game was Game 7 of the 1973 World Series.

Yep. Beane will move Sogard to SS and give Punto the starting 2B job so he can sign 4 more starting pitchers. It'll be great.

I hope he finally has the brains to go after some hitters at the deadline. We never had a pitching problem.

Oakland needs a real left fielder, a SS (wouldn't be against re - signing Lowrie if he's affordable), a trade for a better bat at second if possible, and it's time to figure out CF in a post Coco world. I'm not as worried about a defensive catcher as the editorials are.

I think we'll be fine at catcher with Norris. I agree with your analysis of our needs. I would like to keep Lowrie. Trading Russel is going to hurt us for a long time.

I think Gentry and Fuld would be fine at center field.

So first bench coach Chip Hale gets the manager position with the Diamondbacks. Can't really fault him for taking the promotion, but now hitting coach Chili Davis has bolted for Boston to be their hitting coach. Part of me is nervous about both losses, but part of me wonders if Billy is still running the team anyway.

So the one position the A's are absolutely full on is 1B/DH. So what does Billy Beane do? He over pays for Billy Butler. I like Butler, but barring a scenario where Brandon Moss is getting traded, this move makes absolutely no sense especially since we have no idea where our SS is coming from. What are the odds Billy Beane knows what he's doing right now?

A's have apparently signed Pat Venditte. Had decent numbers in the minors. I hope he can make the big team.

Moss can play left field. He was an outfielder first before we converted him to 1B

The A's still don't have a real left fielder (why put Moss there when he wasn't good enough out there when the Red Sox tried to move him?), a short stop AT ALL, and they still need to upgrade second base. But they have yet more pitching and now ANOTHER first baseman, Ike Davis. Fantastic Beane. Thanks for actually taking care of needs.

dead serious. His only goal has to be to come up with an opening day 25 man of 18 pitchers, 3 catchers and 3 DHs. If he thought he could pull it off, he'd probably scratch the three DHs to make it 21 pitchers.

There has never been a more overrated GM in the history of all sports.
