17 SOs in 82 ABs isn't good, but I wouldn't call it horrible either. His OBP is .326, so I can definitely live with that for now because you have to think the kid is only going to get better.
He has quite a knack for grounding out to the second baseman, but on his hits he seems to be able to hit the ball all over the park. Don't ever confuse him for a power guy though.
The best thing for him is that there is plenty of competition in the OF so he has to stay competitive. 6 guys, 3 spots (joining Buck, Brown, Cust, Denorfia and Davis). Looks like Deno will get sent down, although they placed him on the DL for now.
The worst thing for him is that there is plenty of competition in the OF. One bad week could cost him dearly.
Weeks is 1-1 with a rocket up the middle for a single. The game is on ESPN if you are interested Bill.
Edit: He just stole second too.
Bill thought you would be interested in this.
ESPN - Source: Rangers, Reds jump into bidding war for Dominican Inoa, 16 - MLB
The A's are the favorite to sign top Dominican prospect Michel Inoa (according to Baseball America, not ESPN). The Reds and Rangers are also involved.
Sitting here watching the A's beat the Phillies in the bottom of the 8th right now, and I wish I were happier. But the Braves suck enough that I really don't think it matters to me. Nice to see that the A's are hanging in there for Bill, at least.
