Not heard anything to suggest otherwise and it’s pretty rare for fringe 1st rounders to transfer from P5 to P5, I’m sure there’s some but I can’t think of many. It’s a risk going somewhere not knowing what to expect, at that point you’re just about better off entering the draft and taking your chances.

I feel like any concerns that Phillips’ family would have would be unwarranted. Assuming he doesn’t play tonight, he would basically have missed close to an entire month of games in conference play. Barnes can’t help his injury status.

It’s selfish thinking as a fan obviously, but he should return to school and improve his draft stock. With Santi, ORN, Uros, Key, and JJJ all likely to leave, there will be major minutes up for grabs and he will be one of the leaders of next year’s team. I can see the offense running through him and Dillione.

I hope it happens. I know we said it last off-season as well, but assuming Phillips stays and there are no shocking departures, I could see next year’s team being even better than this one. We’ll be more athletic and still have a lot of experience on the roster.

Get another point guard in the portal and I think next year's team could be better as well. No point guard and I'm not sure.

Zeigler
Dilione/Edwards/Carr
Mashack/DJ
Phillips/Estrella/Cade
Aidoo/Awaka

Then yea, a PG and a wing scorer/3pt shooter would be what I was looking for. Maybe a post if it was just an absolute can’t miss guy but those aren’t usually transferring and are entering the draft.

Small ball heaven. Especially if JP can develop to the point of being able to bring the ball up the court and initiating the break.

I just hope any transfer coming in is an SEC caliber athlete. I would rather a freshman get the playing time than another over matched senior.
