The Official #11/#9 Tennessee @ Florida Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, ESPN

If Coach Heupel is going to roll with Milton at QB, he's going to need to develop a scheme that works for Milton.

None of us can expect that EVERY QB will execute Heupel's tempo offense like Hooker did. For instance, someone like Stetson Bennett wouldn't have done as well. It's not his style.

The offense we're running isn't going to work in the SEC if Brady or Manning were running it. The scheme isn't workable that we've run for most of the first 3 games. It's not good football.

If that's all Heupel's got in him, we're not going to have good results because every QB isn't a tempo QB. It's not a "plug in any QB" offense and if this is Heupel's backup offense.......ugh.
You do understand that Milton is incapable of running any type of scheme, don’t you? He is not a qb and should never be confused with one ever again

I can't believe how unpissed I am. I think subconsciously , I'm just immune to real disappointment anymore. I went out back , had a smoke and a beer and laughed at stuff with the kids that I'd normally have been annoyed with during a game like this. As a fan ,I'm broken, in a good way. Life's too short to stress over a game other people are playing .
Same. I calmly turned the game off at halftime and spent some time with the wife who was watching a movie. I checked back in towards the end but that was it. It’s not worth investing that much especially when they just haven’t been that good save last season.

No way am I blaming the refs. We were not ready. But, I cannot recall announcers ever being so openly critical of the refs/umps and every call they were critical of went against us. Normally, announcers seem to do their best to defend them. A well called game doesn't have refs in the conversation.

You don't have to qualify you statement. We didn't come out ready to play, but our comeback in the 2nd half was thwarted by the umps. The 1st half officiating wasn't the best because of the many times Florida wasn't called for holding but the 2nd half calls sunk us.

We're bad in so many phases. The team is off. We need a shake up. It's time for a new qb
Yes. I have been a big Joe Milton supporter but he had his senior chance on the big stage tonight and blew it. Throwing up that duck of a desperate interception did it—perfect mistake to set up an easy Florida touchdown. It's Nico time. Heupel knows it now.

I’m thinking there are locker room problems, especially in the secondary and at QB.

Milton let the clock run down on several plays - he was totally unaware. You can’t tell me that Heupel really trusts Milton. You can’t tell me he is unaware of Milton’s inefficiencies.

Worst game of Heupel’s tenure at UT. Lacked a sense of urgency throughout the game. Failures across the board. Out coached all over the field.
I think so too, since APgame, I was like ‘something is off.. doesn’t feel right’ and no, it’s not twss lol

And how does Banks not have a db following a receiver who motions across the field?

Total ineptitude.

Banks not playing his young db’s - well time for him to start looking for another job - Im and he should take Martinez with him. Total ish.

Does he really know it now? I’ll believe it when Nico starts next week.

When the commentators refer to bad reffing during a semi blow-out (and yes it was just about that with Napier calling off his aggressive play when they got up big).....when the commentators bring up refs that is akin to an attempt to save some tiny bit of face to a program that is being EMBARRASSED. Understand it for what it is. Anyone who even mentions the refs in this game is just not understanding what happened tonite. If blaming those stripes makes you sleep better then go ahead. But its much much deeper than that I hate to say.

This was a dumb take. The missed calls were clear. They were replaying them. However they did agree on the roughing the passer but well all saw the replay and Herring didn't even touch the guy.

It’s absolutely substandard. And I don’t know if that’s because of Milton or Heupel’s approach this year. But whatever it is, it’s got to be corrected. I thought we’d lose tonight, in fact I picked us to go 8-4 this year because I just don’t think we have the team others thought we did. But what I saw tonight, we might be a 6-6 team.
Heupel had better be a better coach than to trot a substandard offensive scheme out no matter the reason.

It's not his regular style of game. I'm not sure why he's changing to an easily defended conservative scheme but it is unacceptable.

If he's tied to Milton because Nico really can't run the offense either, he needs to develop plays that will work in the SEC. What we've seen is not good coaching.

At least three times. I have never watched a game where the commentators all but came out and said the officiating was suspect.
Yeah, but they missed the last bad call, the QB faked putting his knee down but my replay never shows it hitting the ground. Anybody got a shot where it does, and I will stand corrected.

Resetting the ball and not resetting the clock allowing them to substitute on the 4th?
The roughing call where he stated for contact to the head that never happened.
The bogus crackback block call.
The stretching the jersy in the endzone PI that was not called

These four were replayed by the play by play crew on national TV.

Did they ever show any IN our favor?

That's not your decision nor mine. If Milton is incompetent and Heupel is sticking with him, we have much much MUCH bigger problems than Milton.

That's what I'm talking about.

Do you really believe joe had had only one bad quarter. Seriously????

I didn't say that so don't put words in my mouth. The team did. The fact is, the vols won 3/4 quarters. THAT's what matters. It's literally how VOL coaches, post game analyzers, vegas, the NCAA will look at this game. The win or loss is not based on joe milton. Just look at time of possession, INTs, passing efficiency, yards after a catch etc, etc.

Blaming one guy for a win or loss for a large-team sport is just not wise. Particularly when defense, special teams, protection, hurries, situation are considered.

Also, people didn't think much of stetson bennett. UGA fans didn't think much of stetson and then....???? He became PART of the reason UGA won a natty and then....???? PART of the reason they won another natty.

Right now, because you are mad and frustrated, you aren't seeing all the good things Milton brings to a team. Look how dominant UGA was last season with an undersized qb. UGA was one of the most dominant teams ever because of time, effort, planning, maximizing his good qualities, having an additional year of having plays designed around his strength and weaknesses, but also, the rest of the offense, defense,. It influences recruiting and other things. Putting together a football program is very complex. One season, slightly less complex. Over reacting is a way to tank a football program is my major point. Any qb is is just part of a football program. Coaching changes can have as big an impact on a team as a qb. Just look at UGA and you saw that earlier today.

Wouldn't doubt it. To be so bad in so many areas , something does seem drastically wrong with the chemistry.

Word on the street is that Banks doesn’t like playing young players hence Hadden.

But the world now knows that Milton is the sane guy who lost his job twice. Milton just doesn’t have it - he never has.
