The Official 2024 NFL Season Thread

Holy hell those last two throws by Hurts were god awful

Lots of bad throws by both QB's and I think it's probably because the footing was so unsure. This was absolutely ridiculous that they had to play on this turf. Literally everybody was slipping all game. Malik Willis played 2 plays and slipped.

I'm punching the air rn if I'm Packers fans. The turf, Love's injury, and so many questionable penalties.

Love’s mechanics look terrible to me. Seems he’s always throwing falling back with no forward thrust from his legs. All arm. Prone to accuracy issues as a result.

It's really funny NFL analysts tell me I have to "watch the games" with Trevor Lawrence and ignore the production to understand he's actually really good but with Jordan Love it's "but look at the production!" and not watch the games

One day the NFL will stop putting 200 and 300 million dollar contracts on high school level fields....

We even stopped scheduling regular season games at Nissan for decade plus after rash of leg injuries against Wyoming in 2002 (Kevin Burnett having a serious one)....

?? Haven’t heard this take yet.

His mechanics look almost identical to Aaron’s at this point. And Aaron was one of the best to ever do it. I don’t see an issue.

4 years, $240m for Dak with $80m signing bonus. I guess they liked the 1 playoff win the last time they made him the highest paid player in the league

Better than the other options they had. Trey Lance is garbage and Free Agency next year is pathetic.

He's a better player but it's really hard to win dedicating that much cap to the 12th best QB in the league.

IDK what the stats are now....probably only Mahomes has added his name to the list, but only like 6 QB's have ever won the SB taking up 12%+ of the cap, and $60m is 24% of this year's cap

Wasn’t able to watch the game but saw the Titans were up 17. Disappointing to see the Bears come back, they are supposed to be a lot better this year. Was it a case of Chicago playing lights out or Tennessee not playing well?

Either the Bears having great defensive line pressure or the Titans offensive line that last season was so bad at pass blocking last year they were at times running the ball late in low rushing yard games in the hopes of just trying to take some of the pressure off the QB on every single drop back to pass…is still bad.

Why didn’t Tennessee take Hooker?

Why didn’t Tennessee take Hooker?
Probably a variety of reasons. A lot of teams passed on him until the Lions picked him in the 3rd round (…and likely their long term plans revolve around him being Goff’s backup)…his very serious injury the previous season combined with how it made him unable to workout at Combine plus the extended recovery period into his rookie year he was still going to need before he could play plus his age (26) and his already unfortunately having a past history of injuries made a lot of teams not comfortable with looking at him as being a future starter, especially a long term one.

He wouldn’t have fixed the offensive line issues and would have been getting hit/speared/dropped by a defensive lineman on every pass drop back as well.

Thanks for the detailed response. Makes a lot of sense.
