The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Also, another question:

If you have an old 22 magnum single action six Ruger pre 1970 will it shoot the new 22WMR?

Best 22 magnum bolt action rifle?

Best AR15 for the money under $1000?

"Best" even in .22 rimfire can get pretty high. What's your ceiling? I know I've liked the Ruger 77/22 and CZ 452 American.

It won't have all the fancy bells and whistles but you could probably get into a Colt 6920 for around that price.

No expert here but I have researched ar-15's a bit and I would save up and get the BCM. It is worth it instead of getting a cheaper model. You can also build your own, or if not comfortable with that there are probably a dozen good people around you that could do it for you. Check with a few gun shops and get a few names. You can always buy the lower and upper separately that way too, and configure it exactly the way you want it.

I have a Marlin (think its model 925) great varmint, groundhog rifle. I've had it for 20-25 years, many , many rounds through it without issue.

I don't think they make the 925 anymore and I don't buy used, unless used like new never shot still in box.

Hard to beat Savage bolt action rifles

Best AR15 under a grand is the Colt 6920. Unless someone builds it for you and you specify the parts.

Agree 100%

The only thing that would be better at that price point is a mid length gas system on the AR. May be hard to find though, unless like you say, you have it built.

I won't ever buy another carbine length gas system myself. I've got to mid length on everything I own.

But again, the only mid lengths off the shelf I would suggest are the BCM or Daniel Defense. I'll build it otherwise.

Picked up a NIB Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 Carbine (308) on GunBroker for $490. Also got a 10 round magazine expansion for it. Can't wait until it gets here. :dance2:

I'm digging that Titan myself. I carry an older E1E Executive Elite as a pocket carry and have been looking for something a little smaller and brighter.

I've given this post a bit more thought and will add to what I said already. If I was to buy a .22 Mag bolt action, I'd limit it to these models:

Savage Arms

or

CZ-USA CZ 455 American, .22 WMR - CZ-USA

An AR under a grand? Hard to say without your specifications. If you are looking at a bare bones, straight from the box type, it's hard to beat a Colt 6920 and they tend to run $900-1000. But not everyone likes a plain AR and wants the bells and whistles that go along with it. So the question is, do you want a weekend soda can shooter or a hard use carbine for possible defensive work?

I think I like that CZ because of the interchangeable barrels. Also, used to shoot the M-16 colt. Can't believe I could hit a 9" silhouette at 400 yards with a mechanical sight-with wind. Now it is just a blur.

Took the wife to try out some pistols today, she ended up buying a s&w shield in 9mm.
Nice shooting little gun.

That barrel change is pretty neat, but the video makes it look a little complicated. It might be easier with a hands on though.

Be careful about that, pretty soon you'll have a .17 HMR in your ammo stores as well :)
