The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

That barrel change is pretty neat, but the video makes it look a little complicated. It might be easier with a hands on though.

Be careful about that, pretty soon you'll have a .17 HMR in your ammo stores as well :)

Been wanting a .17 HMR for a while myself.

You're reading my mind.

I think it only drops about 6 inches at 200 yards. (Which scope would you put on that rifle?)

Depends on what you're shooting at. For varmints like prairie dogs and whatnot, I'd say at least a 12 power. Likely even up to 14. Primary Arms are probably the most underrated scopes on the market. The problem is the base or rather lack thereof on any dovetail receiver. I would assume there's an adapter on the market, but I've never seen one.

Is that a 22 wmr? Why do they make those with the larger barrels?

Not sure what caliber the pic I pulled is, but mine is a 308 plus a ten round expansion part I picked up from Legacy Sports. Currently shopping around for glass for it. I really want a 6-24x40 for it.

Oh my! Very intriguing. Takes AK mags and 7.62x39 is still somewhat cheap to shoot as long as you keep it steel cased or surplus.

Hopefully a 5.56 version will be next. I've always loved the idea of the hk platform, just not the price they bring.

I had a PTR-91 at one point. One of the original models where they were still using surplus H&K parts to build.

Decent shooter and all, but I just got spoiled by the controls on an AR. Unless you have fingers like a chimpanzee, you ain't reaching the mag release. And no bolt hold open option.

I do like what they've done with the integrated top rail and the removable rails on the front though.

An AR meltdown

I'd like to see a standard 4150 CMV barrel and how it might perform instead of the SS. Around the 7:30 mark you start to see the brake come loose.

Had most of my pistols out for a cleaning and decided to take a photo. There are 3 more tokarevs not pictured.

Nothing, and I mean nothing is more reliable. As for the 1911 comment above, I carried one for 15 years. the Les Baer in the photo. 1911's are ok, for the range. When it comes to serious edc purposes, give me a glock every day, all day.

I hear that from Glock fan boys all the time and it couldn't be more wrong. There are numerous guns that are just as reliable as the glock and are more accurate. M&P, XD are just a couple of examples. I carry a springfield Pro and that thing has never had a misfire, FTE, FTF nothing. From FMJ to hollow points, Wolf, to hornady, it eats it like a fat kid on thanksgiving. I've cleaned it once when I first purchased it. I've got roughly 4k rounds through it. And the accuracy compared to a glock is not even in the same ball park. I can hit P dogs at 30 to 50 yards all day with my pro. When I was taking my concealed weapons course, we were shooting Glocks for our range time. The instructer built them up during the whole class, basically pushing Glocks for people to buy. We had two fail during range time.

It's real simple. Bullets in the gun equals time in the fight.
I loved 1911's more than any other pistol, the Les Baer in the picture has 60k rounds through it. It lived with me for 15 years. I shot that pistol twice a week every week without fail. As I'm getting older, I'm unable to carry the 1911 any longer, it literally causes me pain now. I come from Col. Jeff Coopers school of though on handguns, I understand 1911 pistol probably better than most, they have their place. That place for me now, is the range. I'll give you the m&p as far as being reliable, the xd is a piece of hot garbage imo. I've seen many fail in classes.

I've recently modified a 17 for edc. Abbreviated the grip, under cut the trigger guard, put some xs big dots on, now it's perfect. For me.
It doesn't hurt me the way the 1911 does. Plus, 17+1 is never a bad thing.

My daily carry is the 17 in a raven concealment phantom holster and a glock 26 in a Galco ankle guard on my ankle. Couldn't be happier.

Well it's sounds like you just like the comfort and weight of a glock which I can understand. But as far as reliability, you said it yourself, 60k without fail. Impressive.

Yeah, but that is a semi custom gun that was maintained with new extractors, and springs at proper intervals.
People hate on the glock for whatever reason, I think it's mostly because it's not made here. Although, I have seen the new US made glocks. So, who knows....
Glocks have more than proven theirselves since 1985. I own both and wouldn't trade any of my glocks, Colt, or Kimber.

I've actually had more trouble out of the Kimber than any other pistol. It's a 2003 custom TLE2. I replaced all the internals with Wilson combat parts and most problems went away.

With the proliferation of polymer pistols these days, they're not going away any time soon. Technology is a good thing.

GV what's your opinion on Rock Island? I don't know the model but we have a full sized .45 1911 and I'm thinking about taking it home.

Not GV, but one of my buddies bought one and we put a few rounds through it. Shot well and was dead on.

I've been trying to get one of my other buddies to buy back the P250 I bought from him when he was hurting for cash to go towards buying one.

I own three of them.

Good pistol for the price. It's a shooter with few bells and whistles. First thing you need to do is get rid of those grips though lol

Thanks, might just check it out, run some rounds through it before I decide.
