The Official NCAA Selection Show Thread (Monday May 27 NOON EST ESPN2 )

Wouldn’t shock me one bit. I’m still confused at how ECU managed to get a hosting spot even though they didn’t win their conference tournament and they finished 22nd RPI. That’s a guaranteed 2 seed for anyone else but they have a guy working on the inside. Indiana State got hosed, and not by a little bit. They deserved far better than even the 16 seed. Should have gotten a higher seed than Virginia.

The D1 guys talked about that today.

Edit: Fact checked myself. I don’t see anything about Godwin retiring. He is a young man at 46. Obviously confused him with someone else and shouldn’t have posted without checking that out.
It’s Costal Carolina’s head coach that’s retiring, and they were a bubble team that got in ahead of some teams I think deserved it more, costal had someone on the committee this year. Sorry if posted already.

It is dumbfounding how bad the Big 10 is at baseball compared to football and basketball. Nebraska is the best they have to offer and they are 28th in RPI. They literally put zero effort into their baseball programs.
It doesn’t make money and it’s too damn cold most of the year up there. Less talent overall in those states as well. Also doesn’t help that there are more pro baseball markets in that area. Braves are the only MLB competition in the entire South.

At this point, Indiana state would give the Braves all they wanted and then some...according to all the Indiana state fanboys on here.
🙄

I wonder if this has developed over many generations, seeing that a lot of football can be played after the harvest is in, but springtime into summer on a farm is busybusybusy.

They did the one thing they swore would never happen. The SEC could have all 8 teams in Omaha.
Chris Burke predicted 4 and his sidekick predicted 6 today. Would be amazing if 8 of the 11 ended up in Omaha. Surprised brackets/seedlings allowed this as I thought it was taboo.

I must be out of my mind because I thought baseball started some on Thursday and not all 32 games on Friday. I guess because some end on Monday when the additional game is needed and some end on Sundays that it just threw me off.
You are not crazy. They have traditionally started some games on Thursday. I saw the schedule too and was confused at first thinking it was a typo.

About to have a team in Nashville soon…
