Theoretically, you would think that would be the case. But on the flip side, if you’re the #1 overall seed, it really shouldn’t matter unless they really screw up the seeding. We should be good enough to beat anyone in a regional. The Supers is where it can get a little hairy and I think they definitely went with the storyline of TN-Wake. ECU got screwed with their 2-seed in Wake Forest, there’s no way Wake should’ve been in that spot outside of pairing them with the Vols and maybe the geography aspect of the selection process. No, you only have to beat the teams you face. As the number one seed, our path should be a bit easier than anyone else.
Honestly wouldn’t mind them all being 4 seeds. You can’t make the excuse of “well we play in the SEC and we would have a much better record in so and so conference.” You know what type of teams you are playing on an annual basis. If you actually played in those conferences then you wouldn’t be getting the same type of recruits playing in the SEC. So I don’t want to hear that lame excuse. You don’t deserve to be a 2 or 3 seed with a losing conference record. You know, maybe play better
So you want less Sec teams in and more Big Ten and small conference teams that play absolute nobodies…Im all for shrinking basketball and baseball down to 32 teams…it will never happen…the NCAA likes that moolah…but I do want the best teams in regardless of the number allowed inIf we had more regular season games then that just means Florida would get in with a losing overall record. Sounds like a great idea
Well first of they can’t put two SEC teams in the same regional so that’s not going to happen. And you have to play that same LSU regardless in Game 2 if they are the 2/3 seed so why does it matter? Oh yeah it doesn’t matter. They deserve to be 4 seeds. Y’all watch, all these 13-17 teams are about to get put out early and then everyone is going to be asking “why did we even put them in here?”If you make 13-17 SEC teams a 4-seed, that isn’t fair to the regionals hosts. Imagine the outcry if Tennessee had to face LSU in Game 1 on a Friday? Imagine how UNC would be feeling if LSU was their first game not their potential 2nd. I’m not saying all of the 13-17 teams needed to get in, but the bubble was really small this year. College of Charleston and TCU are about the only teams with actual arguments to be upset with the snub, and even then CoC played a joke schedule where Nebraska is the only P5 team they played and didn’t even schedule a midweek against any of the local ACC teams to try and beef up their resume.
I’m just not pressed about the SEC or ACC teams getting more bids because baseball already goes out of its way more than any sport to make room at the table for mid majors.
And if you aren’t going to make the bubble SEC teams a 4-seed (which would be dumb) the difference in a 2 and 3 is basically nothing, so I just can’t get upset or annoyed by the number of SEC 2 seeds.
TCU is probably the only team I feel sorry for this year. They should have gotten in over Florida. The other 10 SEC teams were probably deserving.
We’re about to find out these 13-17 teams are not deserving by their play on the field. So you want less Sec teams in and more Big Ten and small conference teams that play absolute nobodies…Im all for shrinking basketball and baseball down to 32 teams…it will never happen…the NCAA likes that moolah…but I do want the best teams in regardless of the the number allowed in

Why? Because they get the advantage of playing a 2/3 seed instead of the 1 seed right off the bat? It works both ways. How do you think SEC teams would feel having to play 1 seeds? Like I said, play better and earn your seed. If they are that great then go out there and beat the 1 seed in Game 1. Prove it.If they make regional finals…that is final 32 teams…that is deserving
To make the regional finals two teams have to be eliminated…thats half the field…I dont know what to tell you man…lol…now you are saying a Sweet 16 is a good year? To get to the final 32 you have to win two games…so you are either beating two teams or one team twice…that isn’t enough for you to prove a team belongsWhy? Not if you are 13-17. You should have the most difficult path possible. Go beat the 1 seed and show me how great you are.To make the regional finals two teams have to be eliminated…thats half the field…I dont know what to tell you man…lol…now you are saying a Sweet 16 is a good year? I understand not rooting for other SEC teams because I won’t. But the conference has built a giant.Honestly wouldn’t mind them all being 4 seeds. Very easy to do with all of the Carolina schools! There’s so many of them that are close and good at baseball! Thanks for the clarifying where I made my mistake. I mixed my Carolinas again. When I lived in SC, I had to basically know the person a little before I knew whether they meant South or North when they said Carolina or in this case confusing Conway SC with Greenville NC.
I’ll go ahead save you that “best 64 teams” crap. Any tournament that offers auto bids to a conference tournament champion regardless of record is not the best 64 teamsI understand not rooting for other SEC teams because I won’t. But the conference has built a giant.
Alabama and USC have 3 times as many Q1 wins than ECU. LSU has 2 times as many, in addition to over 2 times as many Q1 and Q2 wins combined. Alabama beat Indiana and Arizona in the nonconference, and both made the tournament. USC beat UNC. Vandy beat Indiana State 20-4, Louisiana, Texas, and Indiana. Got to pick the best 64 teams regardless of conference.
At this juncture we would not be left out with that record and a top 20-30 RPI, we’ve built up enough cache. We made it in at 14-16 CTV’s 2nd year thanks to the league we play in.Not really. If Tennessee finished 13-17 I would fully expect to miss the tournament and even if we did make the tournament I wouldn’t feel like we deserve it. .500 in conference should be the minimum requirement to make the NCAAT.
Yea, but the at-large go to the best. I have no problem with it. Not all records are equal. I’m willing to bet a 2 seed SEC school will make supers, and probably more than one.I’ll go ahead save you that “best 64 teams” crap. Any tournament that offers auto bids to a conference tournament champion regardless of record is not the best 64 teams

All those teams actually had a winning record in conference so yeah I would much prefer that than 5 13-17 teams.Look, I hate the SEC rivals as much as anyone, but put your orange-colored glasses down for a second. Let's break your argument down for a second.
I am well aware of that. It was an illustrative argument. We'd be pissed if LSU, Mississippi State, Alabama, South Carolina, or Florida were our 4-seed because they are that good. So, put yourself in the shoes of other teams. You aren't making a P5 team a 4-seed.
If you are a host, playing a P5 team in Game 2 is waaaaaayyyy different than Game 1.
Define "put out early"? I'm not here arguing the SEC is going to have 10-11 teams in the Super Regionals. These teams are 2-seeds for a reason. Their regional host will be the favorite if they are traveling. I don't think it supports your argument if the 13-17 teams don't advance farther than they are expected to do.
Are there really that many teams you think are more deserving and are better teams? Can you name them? Because, again, the bubble was extremely small this year. California, Cincy, and Lamar were considered three of the "snubbed" teams and they were 65th, 62nd, and 66th in the RPI. I'm just not sure who these great teams getting left out where this year.
The data is pretty clear. When you are in a P5 conference and can only muster 5 Q1 wins, you aren’t getting in. Over half of Cal’s conference wins were over teams 150+ in RPI. It’s like 9 wins over Mizzou, actually worse.@VolPack22 who do you think should’ve made the field and who do you think made it but wasn’t deserving?
Honest question, as I’m gonna research your response and may look at it differently afterwards.
You know me, I’m open minded and willing to listen.
Right now I’m in the camp that the SEC is the dominant conference and it’s not even close, and the number of teams is justified...for the most part.
