The Official NCAA Selection Show Thread (Monday May 27 NOON EST ESPN2 )

Does it really matter if they are a 2 or a 3? It basically changes nothing.
Honestly wouldn’t mind them all being 4 seeds. You can’t make the excuse of “well we play in the SEC and we would have a much better record in so and so conference.” You know what type of teams you are playing on an annual basis. If you actually played in those conferences then you wouldn’t be getting the same type of recruits playing in the SEC. So I don’t want to hear that lame excuse. You don’t deserve to be a 2 or 3 seed with a losing conference record. You know, maybe play better 🤷‍♂️

It’s Costal Carolina’s head coach that’s retiring, and they were a bubble team that got in ahead of some teams I think deserved it more, costal had someone on the committee this year. Sorry if posted already.
Thanks for the clarifying where I made my mistake. I mixed my Carolinas again. When I lived in SC, I had to basically know the person a little before I knew whether they meant South or North when they said Carolina or in this case confusing Conway SC with Greenville NC.

Ok, I have to point out a couple of flaws in your argument. Number one, you said if you weren't in the sec you wouldn't get the players. True, but then you're admitting the sec is full of teams with better players? That's an argument against your own point. Also, let's do a stupid hypothetical:

You take the 16 best teams in the MLB and force them to play in the NCAA just for giggles. Now, based on math reality, half those teams will have a losing record in their 16 team conference with each other.

You gonna argue the committee shouldn't rank them 1-16 for the tournament? They're stupid better than any other team in college, even the num 16 with a 5-25 record in conference.

No, the sec isn't THAT much better....but it kind of is. Yes, I'm saying there absolutely aren't college teams more deserving of a spot than the 13-17 sec teams.

Not really. If Tennessee finished 13-17 I would fully expect to miss the tournament and even if we did make the tournament I wouldn’t feel like we deserve it. .500 in conference should be the minimum requirement to make the NCAAT.
Not if we had a tough schedule…all schedules aren’t equal…going forward with Texas and Oklahoma 13 will always get in…

The sad thing is they have all those great players and yet they can only win 43% of their conference games. That’s laughable to me that they are even considered for selection. You have a team like Florida that plays the number 1 SOS and finishes 28-27 on the season and yet they get preferential treatment due to conference prestige and past tournament success. You have teams like Charleston that actually win their regular season but can’t even sniff a spot in the tournament because they didn’t win a conference tournament but we are going to put a team from the SEC in that is 1 game over .500 all because “we played the toughest schedule”. Get out of here. It’s a damn shame and everyone knows it.

I still wouldn’t want them in. Play better and actually earn your spot instead of being gifted a spot.
You have to come around to the fact that 13 is playing well..it’s like 20 elsewhere. Same in football…Sec translates to like 2 more conference wins other places. 8 win Sec football team is a 10 win team everywhere else in America.

Well play elsewhere then. You can’t take those players with you though so good luck winning those 20 conference games.

Bets want to play with and against the best…if Vols ever had a 13 win season I would want in.
I wouldn’t feel like we deserve it. We’ve gotten to where everyone gets a participation trophy now. It used to actually mean something to perform well in your conference. Hell let Ole Miss in. They finished 2 games behind Florida and Florida wasn’t even a First 4 in team apparently. Does Ole Miss deserve a spot too???

If you let 64 in…you get in…if you want to decrease it to 32 and play more regular season games then we can do that…but if it’s 64 teams…most of the Sec is that good
