The Officiating Thread - UGA

This is a weak, victimized mindset from people who always search for excuses and take 0 accountability. It’s a cultural mindset and I feel sorry for people who live like this. Bad calls go against every team, and yes 1 team is probably going to get the **** end of the stick. You can’t leave it in the ref’s hands. There are plenty of reasons why we lost last night, and I’m not sure if officiating makes top 10.

This thread is literally called THE OFFICIATING THREAD. If you don’t want to see people complaining about officiating go into one of the numerous threads about how bad we played or about how bad the coaching was. Yes, Georgia out played us the 2nd half. Yes, the officiating was very one sided. Both things can be true.

A Face-Mask call that didn’t even “touch” the Face-Mask!

— UGA player “punches” a Tennessee player - Right in front of a Ref — And then just walks away!!!!

— A Pass Interference call on Tennessee- on a pass that was thrown over the head of the UGA receiver — Three Yards OUT OF BOUNDS!

— A couple of bad spots on Tennessee downs…

— A couple of times where UGA’s secondary CLEARLY hit our receivers while the ball was IN THE AIR! - (Of course “pass interference” wasn’t called!)

“12 men on the field” - Which the Refs NEVER even threw a flag for!
— They gathered on the side-line & then let Kirby Smart CALL THE PENALTY!!!!!

And a New Wrinkle — I guess if you just “toss” the ball to your running-back (instead of handing it off) — it is now considered a “Forward Pass” instead of a fumble!!!!

It was RIDICULOUS!!!

That wasn't a fumble 100% of the time. An underhand forward toss is a pass

Bad look for the conference. Luckily the booth had the officials backs last night. I thought Kirk actually tried to do a decent job pointing out the offensive PI and the false start on Beck that didn’t get called. Georgia bias was pretty strong.

It’s not just Georgia though. Refs have a preconceived notion of who is supposed to win and they call the game that way unless you just blow the other team out. We let Georgia dictate the game offensively all night though. They had a couple of long drives in the second half. Banks is a great DC imo but last night is on him.

OP also forgot Beck’s false start that wasn’t called on their final TD pass (not sure if this was a TD but a huge play nonetheless). To be clear, I wasn’t expecting to win this one and would’ve been able to stomach it if we lost fair & square but the horrible officiating leaves a terrible taste in the mouth.

There were some drive extending calls but I don’t think the mustard throwing kind. Second half UGA just flat out beat us. Kirby had answers on D. Case in point, which announcers didn’t talk about is when we make a first down and want to go fast and hit a quick pass, Kirby blitzed on first down and got a sack. I don’t think we touched Beck all night…it was clear they adjusted off OM game, and we had no answers.

In both fumbles that were miraculously called not fumbles, both ball carriers had made a “football move”. The bump pass was close but the other catch by the TE was an obvious fumble.

Agreed. I’ll concede that the sweep was a forward pass, but Delp clearly fumbled the ball. He had caught the ball, turned, and was beginning to run. The “football move” rule is stupid because the refs clearly get to decide what they consider to be a “football move”.

That was a bad one…that one and the “facemask” that got them out of a hole and first down were crushing to us.

Even Herbie called that one out and he was quickly stifled by Fowler and the “rules expert”. “No, no, no, you can go in motion before the ball is snapped”. Herbie continued to argue it and he must’ve got the call in his ear to shut up about it.

I’ve never once seen a QB take a backward step pre-snap once the offense is set where it wasn’t called a false start.
