The Overwhelmingly Negative Response on This Board

Teams have made serious improvement each year he was there. I like that he is from the Keady coaching tree.

For me, the biggest mark against him. I couldn't/can't stand to watch Keady's teams or Painter's teams. The exception would be Stallings, and even his teams can be downright ugly at times.

They can change the uniforms to a purple & green combination, shave their eyebrows, and run four corners if it wins.

sorry, but 61-41 at missouri st is all i need to know. they took the cheap rout and thats a fact.

I'm with Big Pappy on this one. What else do you know? Do you know what kind of roster he inherited? Do you know what it's like to recruit to that school. Etc.?

What our fans needs to understand is that coaching at a small school is in a lot of respects much more difficult than coaching at a large school.

Prior to the hire, I had never heard of Cuonzo, but I am not a BB expert. All I can say is that he is our coach and I am behind him 100% as long as he runs a clean program and starts moving the program forward from the mess that Pearl left in his wake.

I'm neutral on the hire. I think he was one of the better guys if you were going mid major and spending less than 2 million... I would like to see how the guy recruits and how some of the players respond to his hiring etc...

Then you don't know enough.

No kidding. Look at these factoids:

"Martin ... was chosen this season's Missouri Valley Conference coach of the year after the Bears finished 26-9 and won the program's first MVC regular-season championship."

Martin's Missouri State team lost to the Vols by 4 points earlier this season during the pre-season NIT run. Who do you think had the better roster in that one?

I think this is a solid hire.

I'm becoming a fan of the hire. You can't deny the progress he made with that team, given the level of talent he had.

I actually like the hire relative to some of the names we were throwing around. I think he'll recruit well and he will not be walked over in practice by players. I don't know enough about game execution to really comment, but his teams appear to play D and with heart. Those two are the ones you can't play without.

Yet you say anyone who thinks he is a bad hire doesn't know basketball.

I'm not calling you out because I value your opinion, even when I disagree with it, but there is just not enough data on this guy to even know anything about him.
