The Part This Season Should Play in the Pearl Situation

What about taking the position he should be fired based on his actions. But then supporting his retention if the penalties do not force the university to fire him?

As for saying no one would advocate his termination without NCAA violations - did you just join the board?

Lying is obviously a strength of yours. Your supporting Pearl makes much more sense now.

You must consider Anderson a realistic option if you'd list him. Getting the Missouri coach would say a lot about the level the UT job has progressed to.

And, in response to other posters on the subject, I wonder what Gregg Marshall would think if he knew a lot of UT fans considered him a worst-case scenario, for-sure option.

It it were me, as long as I got the job and got paid a nice amount I would be confident I could win anyone over with my coaching ability and winning.

I very much know there are folks who don't like Pearl, but no reasonable person would be calling for his termination without the NCAA violations.

He's an excellent coach. The only reason our fans would have him as a worst case scenario coach is because they don't know who he is.

It's really quite simple. If you consider Pearl more important than the program and all the damage his actions will create for the program, then you obviously want him to stay regardless. If you think the program is more important than Pearl or any other coach and you want to minimize the damage to the program as much as possible, you want him terminated. The results of this season has absolutely no bearing on his future. Without the NCAA violations, no one would be advocating for his termination.

No, not at all. I want Pearl to stay, but he isn't "more important than the program"

Find a post where anyone has advocated Pearl's firing solely on coaching. Surely you're not lying again.

I'm not about to dig through posts, but there have been people on here who have advocated such prior to the run last year. However, most (if not all of them) were members of, as IE dubbed, Hatnation.

Like who?

I remember Hat saying last year that BP should be fired. And, of course, that set off a chain reaction.

I remember exactly no one advocating Pearl's removal due to his coaching. If that took place, I'd love to see it.

I certainly don't remember it. I remember people making accusations of some of us wanting him fired.

I'll look into specific posts later. It may not be solely coaching, but combined with other off-court issues last year, there were definitely people calling for his firing.

I remember that as well. It was mainly posters like UTIE that simply fabricate or completely mischaracterize posters' positions that he disagrees with because they're incapable of actually rationally debating anything.

I did see where Hat was calling for Pearl to be fired, but it was directed at the players arrested after New Year's and not his coaching.

That's the post I was talking about. Hat's reasonable enough to not overreact to the New Year's day thing. I'm sure he said that as a combination of the off court issues and his coaching.

Boo hoo. The end is near for the lying goof and I love it.

I don't know. I think it was more towards off the court issues.

What? So there wasn't anyone advocating his removal solely based on coaching? That's truly shocking, UTIE.

Once you were in the hole, you should've quit digging.

There has been an endless amount of debating reagarding Peral's salary. There is a large contingent of posters that believe we are paying a coach "final four" money without the results. Even a law student like you should be able to figure out that's saying fire a coach that can't coach us to a final four and pay the money to a proven coach.

I think he should take responsibility for his actions and go. If he stays I believe UT bb will be down for a long time.

Well, I believe just the opposite. UT basketball will revert to the malaise of D.Devoe (later years)W.Houston, K.O'Neill, J.Green & B.Peterson. Then y'all can have it.
