The Part This Season Should Play in the Pearl Situation

There is a large contingent of posters that believe we are paying a coach "final four" money without the results. Even a law student like you should be able to figure out that's saying fire a coach that can't coach us to a final four and pay the money to a proven coach.

Hilarious. And I'm the one doing the digging? If that's not a gross, gross stretch to the point of basically just fabrication, I don't know what is. Classic.

I don't expect your machismo to allow it, but you should quit now. First you take both sides on firing Pearl, now you're claiming no one has wanted Pearl fired on his coaching ability despite me giving you two easy topics with plenty of evidence.

You've given exactly nothing except to take comments out of context and stretch some argument 2 years ago so far beyond what it means that it's nothing more than just pure fabrication. Just face it, you're a liar. Pearl keeps good company.

I'm holding out hope for a resignation or an AD to make a decision before then.

Someone asked about Pearl resigning on VQ earlier today. The consensus from the staff was that there is no scenario in which they see that happening. I don't see Hamilton making the decision to fire him before then unless the board really pressures him to do so.

Was hat the only one?

I still stand by what I said in that our PG play/recruiting is horrible under Pearl.

He's the one I saw in that particular thread. Thruthfully, I didn't even read it all.

And yes. You were correct on the point guards - ours really, really suck now. :)

Hate to say it, but you didn't take Pearl at his word did ya?

What? Another two year old thread and no one wanting Pearl fired? No way.

You should understand that telling Pearl to step in front of a train is a colorful way to say he should be fired.

Now youÂ’re just embarrassing yourself.

How is that calling for his termination? That's more along the lines of a forced resignation.

Misread your post as someone on VQ asked Pearl about resigning instead of asked about Pearl resigning.

I'm lysdexic at times.

It happens. I do the same. According to Hubbs, the feedback from everyone they talk to in the AD is that UT is prepared to stick with Pearl no matter the punishments. I disagree with the idea, but I really see it happening.

I would venture to guess that that will be the consensus response while the season is still ongoing.

Once you were in the hole, you should've quit digging.

There has been an endless amount of debating reagarding Peral's salary. There is a large contingent of posters that believe we are paying a coach "final four" money without the results. Even a law student like you should be able to figure out that's saying fire a coach that can't coach us to a final four and pay the money to a proven coach.

Well, if you want to add your opinion as to what posts are really saying, you can make them say most anything. That clearly appears to be what you enjoy doing.

I don't see any way he stays once the 'AA doles out the punishment.

I don't pretend to know what the UT AD and the board are thinking. However, Hubbs and his staff seem very confident UT will keep him. I know Hubbs isn't right all the time, but they are more than not.

I certainly don't remember it. I remember people making accusations of some of us wanting him fired.

Up until this season, 90 percent of the Pearl conversations went something like this:

A: I can't believe Pearl screwed up _______. What a freaking idiot.
B: How can you want him fired? Pearl is the savior of UT basketball!
A: I didn't say I want him fired; I want him to do a better job.
B: You ass! Who are you going to get that can do a better job? Do you want Wade Houston to come back?
A: Can I not criticize the guy without actually wanting him fired? Sheesh, I just want him to improve.
B: Shut up. I can't believe you want Bruce out. You aren't a real fan.

I myself came to the reluctant conclusion that Pearl is just flat-out not that good a coach when I saw the awful gameplan we had against Oklahoma State, but I still held out some hope that he could improve, especially after the outstanding way that he adapted to everything last year. I never actually advocated firing the guy until the NCAA stuff happened. If you're going to keep a guy with all of that stuff hanging over your program, then he'd better be a GREAT coach. Which Pearl is patently not.

Hubbs said that there were more people at UT that wanted Pearl gone back in September than there are now, but that the majority wanted to keep him then as well. Also said he has the support of the majority of the University.
