The Runner's thread

4.2 in 39:02 today.

Went out a little easy and increased the pace each mile. I didn't want to push it to hard because I want to run again tomorrow and I am not used to running back to back days right now.

That's smart. You also want to make sure you don't run more than three days in a row either.

Thanks Smokey. The way the weather worked out this week the only decent days to run appear to be today and tomorrow. The weekend is looking nice though.

Headed to FLA tomorrow around lunch and the weather is looking pretty good down there over the weekend. I am hoping I can get a run or two in on the beach.

Nice. Hope the weather behaves for you. Forecast does look great this weekend. Beach runs are beautiful, but kill me. It's definitely a different type workout. Hope you have a great time.

Odd. I looked at my GPS from last night's run and it said mile 2 was done in 9:17, which is 2 whole minutes faster than I've ever run and faster than my treadmill pace. Something went wrong.

4.41 miles.

22.2 miles for March. Hopefully I can put in 4 miles on Thursday, and 4 on Friday. Get me to 30 for the week.

Oh this run, she teased me. I went out for the first two miles with Samus with about at a decent trot. Then I put her away and went at it. Did mile 1 in 7:11 but I had to slow down after 1.5 miles. Just gassed. I know that I can work some real magic if I go out there without Samus for the first part. I think I will.

TL;DR. I think there is time to be shaved.

Headed to Fort Walton. I have ran on the beach a few times. It's rough.

I have found that running in races you tend to be a little faster. The adrenaline is pumping and you just go.

This is what I bank on each race. I'm slow as snail **** right now but I know come race day I can pull it from nowhere.

That's what I'm depending on anyways lol.

Damn 7:11 that's great. Good work.

5K PR in 23:01, 25+ seconds faster.

Mile 1: 6:27
Mile 2: 7:39
Mile 3: 8:18

Fell off really hard after mile 1.

That's a great time Nerd and that first mile is fast fast fast. I think you should try slowing down the first mile and half and really kick it up the last mile and half and see what happens. I think you would have a better overall time. JMO.

Yeah. You're absolutely right. I think trying to start at a 7:20 and then go for it.

I want to try a glory run just a mile. I think I can get in the 5:xx. Now how much further, I have no idea.

I want to gun for Yankees time. I need that. It was seeing what thrasher865 ran a 5K in made me want to try running and see if I can beat him(thrasher and I great friends and he beats me at everything). I had never run longer than a mile before August, and it took me till December to beat him. He was the yardstick or carrot for me.

I find Yankee is a competitive person, so now I want to see if I have what it takes to beat him. Let me ask you Yankee, how long have you been running?

About 12 years, when I joined the Army in 2002. I didn't do my first race until I did a trail half marathon in July 2011. I've done about 40 races since then.

My best 2 mile time is 11:27. That was when I was 18. I doubt I'll get anywhere close to that now.

Awesome. I hope I still enjoy running as much as I do now in 12 years.

But yeah. I like having a goal to chase to keep me motivated.

4 mile beach run. Weather is overcast and really windy. I am down here for my of my best friends bachelor party weekend so we drank some beers last night and of course that affected me. 8:16 average pace

I hate running in the Army. Love running races and on my own. I didn't know I liked running until I did that first race
