The Runner's thread

I got in the zone near the end of the race yesterday, too. It's a good feeling when you finish but want to keep going.

Yeah I just wish it didn't take so long. But normally it doesn't kick in until the 5th or 6th mile. The most Ive done was 8 and I only stopped because I had other plans that day lol.

But hey if I can make it that far and just space out for another 8 miles I'm set!

Crushed 3 miles without much resistance at all.

You know you're getting in better and better shape when you start daydreaming and reflecting on your life during runs that used to be super challenging.

Suddenly come to and realize you just ran a mile without really thinking about it.

That's awesome. Getting in that zone and just running is what it's all about.

Suppose I'm now forced to let the plantar fasciitis heal. I was playing Frisbee, planted my left foot to jump, and never left the ground. Folded my knee straight forward. Thankfully, no tears and just a hyperextension.

I am not a morning person but I had to switch to morning runs.

Picked up a new pair of shoes today also. I have been running in Brooks Pureflow and on longer runs I wasn't getting the support that I need and was starting to hurt a little after runs. So I got a pair of Brooks Ghost (in gray and orange of course). We will see how they do.

Those are the exact shoes I run in. I love them.

Just started trying to get into running this week, and have developed blisters between two of my toes. Any tips for treatment?

Thanks. I'm afraid the push to 4 miles is going to be rough.

I may need to change my route. I run around the Vanderbilt campus, which has a lot of hills, but that also means there are several sections where I'm basically coasting downhill the entire time.

Plus, it's a pain in the ass when I get stopped at traffic lights.

Make sure your running in good socks like Balegas. The guaranteed way to fix the problem is with Injinji Toe Socks. I love them but some people have separation anxiety with their toes.

Sometimes it's easier to try and add a half mile at a time but you gotta do what feels best for you and stick with it and you will get there.

I second the Injiji socks. Also try a bit of talcum powder between the toes before running.

Shoulda turned Strava on while chasing my son through the mountain bike park. Think I ran about 3 miles.

I run in Balegas. They even make some military issue ones. We aren't allowed to have brand marks or any sort of coloring on our socks for our PT uniform, so Balegas makes an all white sock that comes above the ankles (another Army regulation). Part of the proceeds of the sales of those goes to a Veteran's in Need campaign.

Always wanted to try the Injinji but I have said separation anxiety. I'm sure if I would just put a pair on, I'd fall in love with them.
