The Runner's thread

defintely wasn't fresh powder. We got like 5-6 inches or so then a thick nasty layer of ice. I don't think I've ever ran more lightfooted.

Anyone here ever read "Born To Run". I'm reading it now and I tried a pinole recipe but it didn't turn out very good. Curious if anyone else has tried to make the pinole they talk so much about in the book.

No but I started putting chia seeds on my oatmeal every morning. It definitely gives me an extra shot of energy.

What's the coldest temps y'all have ran it?

I set my record back in Jan. it was 18 when I started and 21 when I finished on a five mile run.

I know I've run several times in the low 20s and think a couple of races have started in the high teens. Tomorrow's high is 11 so I could go for the record if I was inclined.

Ran 2 last night after work. It was in the mid to high 20's but it was snowing and the wind was blowing pretty hard. Made for a pretty brutal run but I'm glad I didn't skip it.

I ran four last night. 19 when I started and 18 when I finished. The wind was absolutely awful. It made it feel much much colder.

Apparently someone just posted the race in January was 16 degrees at the start. So that would probably be my coldest run. It didn't feel that bad though. Halfway through the race I was burning up. I have a light Under Armour wind breaker and that thing is amazing at trapping body heat.

I'm a rare poster in this thread. But 5.8mi today in 26 degree temp. Felt great. My old body always likes running in the cold.

I could've ran in 26 degrees. I couldn't run in 14 degrees. 4 miles on the treadmill. Oh how I loathe the treadmill. Tomorrow afternoon will be in the mid 40s. I don't care how wet it is from the ice melt, I will get a long run in.

Posted on Runner's World Facebook page. Pretty fitting :)

Call. Me. Soft.

Ironic though that earlier in the week they had an article about not running more than 30 minutes in sub zero temps or wind chills.
