The Runner's thread

3.0 last night. I used my compression sleeves on my legs last night. It may just be all in my head but my legs always seem to feel better after wearing them during a run.

I still swear by them. I don't care how weird they look, I'm convinced they help. I used to only wear them for longer runs, but since my return, I wouldn't run a mile without them. They've become my security blanket.

I have been using them for about eight months and I used them when my legs feel tired or on longer runs. I was just using them for recovery. Then I ran in them the first time and felt like my legs felt better after the run than normal.

Do it!! Training for it and then finishing it, no matter what your time is, will be one of the most rewarding things. Race day is awesome.

Heck ya man. Thinking about it. I found an old Ipod last night and it has the Nike runners app, so I'm pumped up now.

Today Ran .72 miles and took a break. On the second leg I accidently paused my app so not sure how far today.

5.5 miles today. Just didn't have it though. So slow. Like 53 minutes. Blaming it on the fact that I've done a pretty decent workout 9 out of 10 days. It feels good to finally be getting back into the flow, but I think maybe I finally got worn out.

still on the marathon training plan (will be my first if I can get there). Today was rough for me. 1 mi slow, 2 mi fast, 3 mins slow, 2 mi fast, 1 mi slow. total about 6.3 miles in 1 hr 4 min

New to the running thread...just found it!

Love the CEP compression socks. Great for my old calves.

"Training" for Disney wine and dine half in November. Worst part is that it's the same wknd at the USC game

2 mile family run last night at the River Walk. First time I have been there since the attacks. After the run we took some time to visit the memorial. I have to say it was pretty emotional to see all the things people had left.

On a side note my five year rode his bike and he is getting better and better. The farthest he has gone is four miles. I think that's pretty good for a five year old.

That's a great place to run. I used to run all the way from UTC's campus to the dam and then back again.

4.5 last night. I was going to go five but about 4 miles in started having knee and lower leg pain in my left leg. Its in a weird spot too. Inside lower left leg. Above the ankle and more towards the center of my leg. Almost feels like a bruise. Hurts to touch and has a dull pain most of the time. Anyone else get anything like this?

I iced my knee and lower leg for about and hour last night on and off. Woke up this morning with no pain in either so I decided to go for a run this morning. 5 miles at 8:07 pace. I was very happy with this after thinking yesterday I might have to take some time off. Runs like this morning remind me why I enjoy running so much. This run had plenty of hills with one pretty good hill right at the end. I'm pumped up if you couldn't tell.

16 miles yesterday morning... and it was awful. I hit the wall at about 14 and the wheels fell off. Felt like I was going to puke several times.

Ran the Water to Wine half last Sunday in Santa Rosa. Finished in 1:57:01; was happy since I had run no further than 6 miles the previous 2+ months.

5.36 @8:42 back home in the soup today.

5.6 miles this morning. Went up and down our only hill twice (a 70' foot tall bridge). This summer has been harder than normal for me. I am making my distances but taking more effort breathing and legs feel more tired than in the past. And taking me longer into the run to get into the groove. Old age and heat, I guess. And I guess sucking in drywall and tile thin set dust the last two weeks hasn't helped (been remodeling the master bathroom).

Can you guys suggest a good YouTube resource for instruction on proper running technique? I gave up running due to knee pain and a left calf reoccurring spasm. I've been reading Born To Run and realize that maybe I have never approached running with any respect to form or footwear and age exposed me. I would like to start from scratch and pretend that I have never run in my life and want to try it out for the first time.
