The Runner's thread

Where are you? It looks fantastic!

we drove up to Marion, VA today at Hungry Mother State Park. The one before that is north of Morristown across the border at Wilderness Road State Park. You can literally run or bike down the Wilderness Trail. It's done up really fancy, so I kept to the trails around the park instead

Almost signed up for a marathon without training, but I was talked into running a leg of the relay instead. I haven't really run since July... This work/school schedule has been whipping my butt.

I ran 5 miles nonstop today. It was a slow pace, and I wasn't exhausted when I stopped. I think it's a pace (12:52/mile) that I can use to run the 1/2 marathon relay I'm signed up for on October 16th. There's certainly room for improvement, but if you remember, I just started running again this past May after a couple decades' worth of weighing over 300lbs.

I think I may have experienced my first runner's high today. It's something I want more of now that I've had it.

Well... It became very apparent today as I ran my leg of the marathon relay, the 5k beforehand, and the last 4 miles pacing a friend...that I haven't run in a long time and the only shape I'm in is round

6 miles @ 12:11/mile. I beat my 4 mile interval time by 90 seconds over my run a little over a week ago.

5k @ 33:22 which is another personal record. First mile was 10:02. I'm not sure that's a pace I can maintain when I run 10k next Sunday, but I'm going to try.

My last 3 5+ mile runs have been getting faster. Today, I was averaging 11:30/mile. My last 4 mile splits dropping from 48 to 46:30 to 44:57 today. And that felt slow.

The cooler weather is really helping.
