The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

It wasn't, but something that took me a long time to grasp and I see that other people still don't grasp it is that what the Confederacy was and what it became postbellum are two very different things. Like it or not, white supremacists and the KKK changed the image of the Confederacy forever and that's why Confederate symbols are offensive today. Blame the KKK for the removal of these statues. It's their fault. That's the reality.

Agreed.

Ok, lets blame all 5 of the KKK members...

Lmao. Our country is becoming more diverse, meaning white people and Christians are less dominant in American culture than they're accustomed to being, and they're throwing a temper tantrum over it. The "attack on white people/Christianity" and "take our country back" rhetoric, the nationalism, the anger toward minorities, it's all part of that. It'll pass.

Lol you know that Hispanics are like 80% Catholic or Protestant right?

OK, I get it. You still think it was about statues even though it was organized by the following groups:

The Nationalist Front
The Daily Stormer
Vanguard America
The Traditionalist Worker Party

....just name a few of the White Nationalist Groups who helped organize the rally.

When I think of the above, I don't think of them trying to protect your 1A Rights. They are there for one reason and one reason only. A telltale sign should have been when they lit their torches the night before and chanted "Seig Heil", or maybe you would have noticed all the Swastika signs they were carrying.

Sorry, I don't know of any "good people" who attend this type of rally.

I don't understand why these groups were fighting each other...

Republicans didn't respond to Obama winning by asking for safe spaces. They said a bunch of racist sh*t and questioned his heritage instead.

Democrats responded to Trump winning by asking for safe spaces. Trump is not dealing with racism in any serious way.

The Republican approach isn't any "better." Instead of safe spaces, it was racism. And Obama dealt with a lot more of that than Trump has; to say otherwise is just willful ignorance.

Serious question, why didn't any of you liberals call Trump a racist before he ran as a republican? And don't say because of immigration, because bill Clinton and Obama both spoke against illegals. Was it because he actually said he'd do something about it? Has he actually said anything about black people being beneath whites? I mean seriously, show me something other than "he's racist". I'm not a fan of him anyway, but I wanna know why you say he's racist?

I'm talking about history. What are you talking about?

Exactly, you're talking about the past. The side you're on, always talks about the past. You never move forward, just rehash everything over and over again.

I'm saying there is very few KKK members anymore, but you guys just keep beating a dead horse.

And yet the percentage of Americans identifying as Christian is steadily declining.

Another question, why do you liberals hate Christian people so much? You're constantly bringing up Christians in a negative way, like we're declining and you live it. Every time a white person does something bad on the news, 99% of you posters show up in the thread bashing the white Christian, though none of them claim being a Christian. Yet when it's a Muslim, black, or anyone else, you guys don't even post in the thread? That makes me curious.

From the above Quinnipiac U poll.

..."Voters are clearly torn on the National Anthem issue. They seem to be saying, 'You can still love your country and kneel during its Anthem,' but the NFL's new 'must stand' mandate is fine with them, too," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll."...

Anyone can protest. It's just pick your place and time, ...sweetie.

Yes and most of that is in white folks. Minorities have high religion participation rates. So as the white man is shuffled off, he will be replaced by groups even more adherent to Christianity.

I'm not sure why you quoted me, because I didn't call him a racist in my post at all. I'm saying that while his victory resulted in people asking for safe spaces and Obama's largely didn't, Obama's victory resulted in people saying racist things about him and Trump's largely didn't.

And we're going to go back to 85% Christian? You can believe that if you want, but good luck, lol. And if people honestly believe that, then the "attack on Christianity" complaints are even more absurd.

I don't think he's a racist in the sense that he hates minorities, but I do think he has very prejudicial attitudes. Liberals have called people racist for a lot less than implying that a lot of illegal immigrants are rapists. It's not like Liberals just picked Trump and said "we're going to do him worse than we did Romney". Trump's asked for it.

My closest black friend is a Baptist preacher, and I have a good Mexican friend who pastors a Hispanic Baptist Church.

To answer your question, though, I largely didn't know wtf his opinions on race were as a private citizen. If he ran as a Democrat and opened with the "some, I assume, are good people" garbage, it would raise the same red flag with me that it did when he said it.

I know he's got issues, and honestly he comes across to me as thinking he's just better than anybody, color aside. I just never in my life heard the left attack him as racist until he won as a republican.

But when people try to move forward without Confederate statues, "the side you're on" runs in screaming, "More past! More past! Let's fight for past citizens who sucked anyway!"

He's been sued for being a racist dating back to the 70s.

I never heard anyone badmouthing Obama before he ran for president either.

I don't hate Christians nor post in really any of those threads. I do think it's funny that a group with a 75% majority claims that "everyone is attacking" them because they're no longer at 90%.
