The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

Feeling insecure?

The headline or what the guy wrote does nothing to dispel the notion that he didn’t separate the locker room. If the winner is just the guy that got the most votes, then he may have gotten 35 votes. Some other guy got 14 and another guy got 10. Maybe some of those 24 people could stand Colin or the choices he made.

Joe Biden won an election. So the US is one big cohesive unit now?

Nothing insecure about pointing out that calling someone a "locker room cancer" as they win a best teammate award voted on by teammates is something that even a second-grader would call stupid

Your initial reaction was insecure.

Probably based on the realization your headline and link did nothing to dispel the idea that he was a cancer.

Again, real slow for you, if it was a winner by majority vote and there was some decent number that did not vote for him…20% or greater, then there is still the argument that perhaps he was a cancer. Of course everyone that did not vote for him may not hold the view he was a cancer, maybe they voted for someone else for other reasons. Or maybe a significant portion did choose to not vote for him because they did think he was a cancer. Or maybe it wasn’t an anonymous vote and people felt pressure to go along with the majority.

In other words, your “here look at think link” was utterly useless.

How about supporting the claim of a divided locker room instead of demanding proof that this claim is false. This isn't how the search for truth works.

Why. I don’t start a conversation in this thread today. Nash made a claim then provided a link that in no way verifies the claim.

My claim is that link proves nothing and I stated why. Which is more than Nash has been able to do.

The claim was that he’s a “locker room cancer” and all of the information we have (including interviews with his teammates and former coach) suggests the exact opposite. “What about the teammates who weren’t interviewed, maybe he is a cancer” is speculative BS that doesn’t add anything

My claim is your link proved nothing and I stated why, clearly. It is a very poorly written piece. It proved nothing.

I’m not hear arguing one way or the other whether he was a cancer, right now.

Poking holes in an article and implying the opposite is true (without supporting that) because “here look at this hole” is not “making a claim” lmao

Good grief, can you not read? I literally gave a simplistic example using voting numbers to show why this argument fails to prove anything. And this isn’t even the only method to disprove that winning the award affirms anything in relation to whether he was a cancer or not.

Again, Biden and Trump have won votes. So neither is a cancer? Ok.

Yes, I understand your godawful political analogy lol. To summarize:

Guy calling Kap a “cancer” with zero evidence whatsoever: Allvol is 100% signed off

Me pointing out that his teammates voted him best teammate: now Allvol has a problem because that’s not enough evidence

Weird

I think it's safe to say the guy getting voted "best teammate" is not a cancer. IDC if guys love his fkn politics, they're not voting for him for this recognition if he's a cancer.

The Biden example is complete ********. People were voting for the lesser of 2 evils. For the example to work, we need to be voting for "best candidate" and the entire field is on the ballot, which Biden would have absolutely no chance of winning. Nice try, tho.

Lol...so he would the team courageous award for being a distraction. You have no idea how team locker rooms work. Dude created conversation in the locker room that had nothing to do with the field of play every time he stepped in there.

Additionally you attached a left wing rag where there is no professionalism in the opinion piece.

Why are you only concerned with those voting for him? If there were some that did not vote for him and that number was significant, greater than 20%. Then we can’t identify why they didn’t vote for him and it is conceivable that any that didn’t vote for him did it because they didn’t like his off the field antics. If that is true we now have a guy that can win the award and at the same time create a rift with a significant number of people.

The contention is if you can win a popular vote then that proves it is impossible that you are capable of being a “cancer” on said team. That is false in a voting process that requires just greater than 50% of the vote.

He was scared that he was going to get benched. I remember at the time that teams were saying they had figured out his cues and it was getting much easier to shut him down. They were able to adjust to him and he wasn’t able to pick up on their adjustments. He was a very physically gifted athlete, but lacks in the brain department.
Unfortunately the Falcons couldn’t figure him out. They’re notorious for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory though. Such is life as a Dirty Bird.

Oh you were in their locker room? Or are you saying with a straight face that you’re an expert on the 2016 49ers locker room because you played high school football in 1997? That’s a fun take

It's funny that Kaepernick was criticized for using politics to try to stay relevant and that his resume didn't merit the attention when this all started while he was still a competitive QB just a couple years removed from a super bowl appearance...

I saw yet another Enes Kanter story from Fox News and had to look this up. They are out of control with this. At his peak, before the 3p revolution really took hold, this dude was barely a starter. After the 3p revolution, he was barely a bench player. He hasn't had a real NBA home since 2018. And Fox News has over 2k search results for this guy (which is surprisingly 50% more than Kaepernick), LOL.

Well one guy knows what actual oppression is and speaks out against it, the other is a privileged clown parading as an intellectual.

They both are talking about legitimate oppression, just different levels of it and different perpetrators. Kanter thinks everything is amazing in America because his only experience here is as a millionaire athlete but he's completely ignorant to our problems.

The war on drugs is oppression. We have other clear forms of oppression. Face reality, bro.

I always thought Kap never got a job not because most of the players disagreed with him (I'd say most players agreed with his sentiments), but because the coaching staff and front office didn't want to deal with the media circus it would create, and they didn't want to deal with that much crap just for a backup QB.

If he was an upper tier QB, or even just a for sure starting QB at the time he started kneeling, he'd still have a job. When he started the kneeling stuff, his baggage outweighed his talent.

Then what's your problem with Kanter? I'd argue he's had a more successful sports career than Kaep. Kaep had 2 slightly above average/average seasons. Kanter has been in the league 11 years and made more than double the money of Kaep. He also was 3-16 as a starter his last two seasons, hardly a competitive quarterback.

You're right though definitely different levels. Concentration camps>citation for weed (fwiw I agree the war on drugs is stupid, but to compare it to China and Turkey is unimaginably ignorant). Kaep's an ignorant, spoiled poser as he's proven time and time again. NFL owners are modern day slave owners, Che Guevara t-shirt in Miami, cops as pigs on socks, praising Fidel Castro, his girlfriend's picture comparing Ray Lewis to a house slave, etc.

Kanter puts things in reality, bro. Is the U.S. perfect? No. Is it an oppressive hell-scape for black people? No. Especially not for the half-black, raised by a white family, multi-millionaire, scholarship and professional athlete. But I'm sure the Middle Eastern Muslim living in the states has no idea on anything with all his privilege.

New opportunities are just around the corner for Good ole Kap in Cleveland.

I always thought it was because the league didn't want to be seen by half the country as unpatriotic (and the owners by half their fans). Being perceived as patriotic had been good business for a decade.

Look at how many times teams kept giving Antonio Brown chances; despite completely torpedoing Oakland he got a shot in New England. After completely torpedoing that, he got a shot in Tampa. I don't think teams in 2017 are scrapping Kaepernick because other players disagreed with his protest. You think everybody on the Browns is thrilled with Watson? I think more dudes are going to have a problem with a sex offender than a protester. I think this was a bu$ine$$ decision, plain and simple.

Yeah, that's part of it too.

If your baggage exceeds your talent, regardless of what exactly the baggage is, you'll be out of the league. It's a business. If DeShaun Watson was a marginal or average player, and his baggage exceeded the talent, he'd be out of the league. If Kap was a better player to the point where talent exceeded the baggage, he'd be in the league.

Then you don't know enough about what you're talking about. His career has been completely irrelevant. He spent, what? 3 years in Utah where he admitted he wasn't even trying? Cool. Then he went to OKC to seal his fate as a bench player. Then he became a journeyman. Combine everything he's done and it doesn't equate to a SB appearance. When CK had good teams, he played well. He was 4-2 in the playoffs and then played for garbage teams the rest of his career.
