The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

They are poking their fingers in the eyes of patriotic Americans and then calling it a peaceful demonstration. This was planned to get a strong reaction and further divide the country.

Ok. So what?

They are allowed to do that. They are breaking no laws. They are not causing anyone harm. If you don't like it, stop watching.

For God's sake, don't watch and then complain about what you see.

Many may have a problem with personal politics being a part of the game.

My initial response when all this happened was, "Come on guys, let's keep your politics and hatred for the police and the president out of sports!" To me, sports has always been an escape from my real world. Sports has, until now, been a community and regional unifier, as we all cheered together no matter our skin color or world view.

Maybe the sports world is reaching a reformation where all of this changes. We all might have to come to grips with this.

Sports are an escape for the fan, but for the athletes and coaches, it's real life. Same is true for the entertainment industry. One may wish to say "shut up and entertain us", but that never has and never will be the reality; nor should it be.

Speaking of which.

I remember attending a Memphis Showboats game at the Liberty bowl as a kid.

It was kazoo night, they passed out kazoo's for the National Anthem.

Nothing says reverence to the country like 50k kazoo's playing bad versions of the SSB.

We need to check the stats on that 50k number.

We've had peaceful protests in the past, and we've had people calling them "retards" as well. It'll be fun to see which side of history you end up on

Again, ignorant as can be.

What is this side of history you speak of?

We're going to outlaw killing innocent people? Oh wait, that's already illegal.

Politics has been a part of sports for a long time; look at the Olympics. People here just aren't used to seeing political stances they disagree with

No I think people here are just sick of the bull**** protests in this country, especially when it's now become manufactured and trendy to take a knee. You've got people having to apologize for not taking a knee. What a joke. It's not about Kap anymore, its all about Trump.

Protestors are sick of racism and police brutality, while "people here" are sick of hearing about protests that don't negatively impact their lives in any way, whatsoever. Sick of the freaking horror of seeing someone kneel, even though it usually isn't even seen and can easily be avoided by changing the channel. Remember what I said about this being very snowflake-like?

Many of them are racists.

Lots of the inequality, lynching, intimidation and murder of black people that MLK protested in the '60s was "already illegal" as well. The official legal stance was "separate but equal," remember?

Your argument is getting progressively worse.

The Russian internet trolls are working this issue also.

Kneeling, BLM, dangerous immigrants....Anyone else seeing a trend?

Some of you guys are pathetic in your gullibility.

Poor comparison.

Find me the group in America that condones killing of innocents.

What you speak of was clearly approved of by many, openly at the time.

Use your brain. Just try it.

It was approved of by people who thought black people brought it upon themselves by stepping too far out of line. Sound familiar?

Yeah, it is an escape for the "normal" folks.

It's also a job for the athletes and coaches. But I could give a darn less what their stance in on a great many things. Just because you are on a screen or can play ball doesn't mean the rest of us give a **** what you think about this, that or the other.

Then don't give a **** instead of constantly complaining about it

I don't care if they kneel! It's their American right. I care about the fact that it's a bunch of people who really don't know what they are protesting and are only doing so because it's the cool thing to do now. Couple that with the fact people are looking at Kap like he's a ****ing martyr, when the reality is that he's a ****ing moron being influenced by a radical left woman.

You are literally lost. Incomprehensible.

Lol. Southern whites defended the KKK by saying "The danger isn't real or widespread, the victims brought it upon themselves, if the attackers were really doing something wrong the law would take care of it."

For Jim Crow, they said, "Poll taxes aren't racist; if they disproportionately affect black people, it's because black people are lazy and don't work hard enough. It's separate but equal; if we're unequal, it's black people's fault for not keeping up."

Reread the arguments you've been making and compare them
