This is what happens when you stick with bad Qbs—Guarantano part 2

I like Heupel but this is just stupid. We knew Milton would cost us games like this. He knew it. We knew it. Everyone knew it. The inability to score even a point in the 2nd half is on QB1.

Real annoyed.
Milton laid it all on thr line yesterday and I'm not a Milton fan. Playcalling was nonexistent after the half. Heupel played not to lose.

He learned to win differently against aTm. Think he thought he could do the same against Bama

We won the atm game by rushing for 232 yards and destroying their backup QB

I do agree with you that some on this board are ”ate up with stupid” and oh, by the way, regarding true freshmen QB’s starting in the SEC, you may have heard of this guy Peyton Manning or more recently, Bo Nix and Jake Fromm. And should you choose to look at other Power 5 conferences you would find names like Trevor Lawrence, Sam Howell, Sam Hartman, Max Duggan, Phillip Rivers and Robert Griffen III to name a few.

Hmmmm … I guess I would fall into your ”intellignence challenged” group because I do think true freshmen can play QB in this league and if Nico is the real deal as described I think he should be starting for Tennessee for the remainder of the season or at a minimum start getting some significant and meaningful playing time. It’s clear now that the Vols are not winning the East and not playing in any championship games this year and will be relegated to a minor to mid bowl game so why not give our talented freshman the reins now to prepare for 2024 thereby avoiding a early season learning curve next year. IMO we are heading for an 8-4 or worst case 7-5 season regardless of who is playing QB.
Nathan Peterman says hello..

The play calling is based on the coaches trust in Joe. Joe has the physical gift but struggles with quarterback IQ.
This just can’t be stated enough. The coaches didn’t want to risk an INT so they seemed to go run heavy, even though we weren’t doing very good running the ball.

I will also add, ask any of your friends, who are fans of an opposing team, what they think of our QB. I think most will tell you “he’s not good.”

Dude this game isn’t on Milton. Some bad decisions, but definitely not his worst game. He competed and did what he could, but when your oline isn’t opening lanes and your WRs aren’t doing their routes or catching catchable balls, that’s not the QB.
I was just told the OL was good

That OL is the reason Nico isnt playing by now
You sure? How do we know Nico will be better? This song has been played over and over again. Until the bullets are live and Nico actually does it in a real SEC game, you just don't know for sure. There's just no way Heupel is keeping better players on the bench if they're truly ready. Just like counting a win vs UK and/or Mizzou are sure things. Ain't no such critter as a sure thing....well...losing to UF on the road certainly comes close.

Saban and his staff adjusted at the half, and Heupel and co had no response on either side of the ball for those adjustments.

The moronic 4th down calls by Heupel, and Milton's inaccuracies were just icing on the turd cake that we'd already made by not having a response to Alabama's adjustments.
If adjusted, you mean had a talk with the head office and the refs? Yes, I agree.

Maybe educate yourself. Research Erik Ainge and Casey Clausen.
That was 20+ years ago. The league is a lot deeper than it was then. Clausen hit his ceiling by his sophomore year and Ainge never really played to the level he was capable of reaching (though he was very good). They were both also developed physically.

That East was nowhere near as tough as it is today. Those two you mentioned were already physically developed enough to step in and play. Nico needs to develop more so he doesn’t get hurt.

If Milton played like yesterday against TAM, we win that game by 2-3 scores. My biggest issues with yesterday were the 4th down decisions. Should have punted it both times. Heupel was coaching full tilt.

It is way more than our QB. Outside the fumble from the blindside hit resulting in the Bama scoop and score, he managed the game fairly well. Joe doesn't call the plays, and some of the play calls killed us. We only have 2 dependable receivers and those two disappear at times plus Keyton has struggled with drops himself.

Then the OL is downright scary fragile. The main starting 5 up front has been good at times when all 5 are healthy. But 3 of the 5 have been hobbled by injury and the next guys up really aren't serviceable. The other team attacks the plug-ins and you have trouble almost immediately. The dropoff in ability is significant.

So shaky WRs and a super-thin OL play a huge part in our offensive struggles this year.

But I put more of the blame on the OC up in the booth who doesn't seem to know the capabilities of his players and CJH acting like he's playing from behind when his team is ahead. Those 4th down failures don't just give Bama good field position but it tells me that our head coach doesn't believe we can win straight-up without gimmicks and gambles. I didn't see Saban getting panicky and taking unnecessary risks when his team was getting pretty much dominated in the 1st half. He went in at halftime and corrected their issues and they looked like another team in the 2nd half. The Tide offense has had their own issues this year and they lost a key lineman in the 1st half, but we played on our heels opening the 2nd half and they looked like an offensive juggernaut.

Some of us aren't worried about what a bunch of dumbass fans think

He did Hooker his first season - Thought Milton was better and kept Hooker on the bench

Remember last year when we could play lightening fast. Yeah I want to be able to do that again.

Cause we would have had so much better luck with Nico handing it up the middle and throwing screens the whole second half. CJH and co **** the bed, they got up and then panicked.
One of two things is either true here. The qb can’t run the system and it’s a problem, or the system has been figured out or flawed. The offense is clearly not like last year and only 2 things changed. The qb and the coordinator. Who is it?

If we can’t run the system correctly then why on earth are we riding the season into he ground with a 5 star qb that’s supposed to be our future.

If the qb isn’t the issue then we are going to have the wind knocked out of us when Nico has the same results next year.

Milton played well enough to win. You just aren't smart enough to see that.

It’s not just Milton though. There isn’t a WR on the field that scares anyone. Bru was that guy, no one else is.

agree on nico not ready but what about ethan davis and cam seldon? warren is incredible slow and cant jump for a ball.

I’m not the president of Milton’s fan club at all, but why do we just assume pulling Milton and putting Nico in right now would be any different?
Milton is in his 6th year and he isn't any better. He is at his ceiling performance wise. Nico's ceiling and room to grow is higher. Time to play to the future. I also have a good friend whos son is a student and is one of the people that videos practices and games. From what I have been told in the film room Milton answers everything correctly and know whats going on, I personally is the reason for all of the coach love for him, but also when its game time Joe severely struggles and can't get it together.

The inability to force Bama to punt until less than 3:00 left in the 4th is on Milton, too? The inability for 3 RBs that are so highly touted to not be able to break 100 yards combined is on him too? What about the left guard who got beat and let Milton get absolutely destroyed being completely clueless the ball was on the ground and the guy that beat him was scooping it up?
