Time to upgrade

This lose is devastating no doubt. I’m embarrassed and depressed but I remember that it took Vitello making it the World Series a few times to finally win it all.

Still ridiculously young. And dude has looked good since the second half of Bama anyways. He has very little help outside of Sampson who didn’t really even play tonight. He’s ahead of where the average RS freshman is by a considerable amount.
I'll agree with you there. Nico wasn't the problem tonight and he hasnt been for most of the season.

Look, I’m not disrespecting heupel at all for the job he’s done in the position we were in. But we are too prestigious a program to not be looking to improve when we can. We are in a position now where we can convince a proven head coach to take the job. Heupel has been paid well and been given every resource. And we just got embarrassed so badly that we should be questioning our coach. If I’m Danny White, I start putting out some feelers now. It’s been 2 years since our offense has been worth a ****. Flame away, I just think we could convince a good HC to take this job.

Chip Kelly stole Tim Banks's lunch money in that blowout.

Too soon for the pitch forks, man.

I disagree that it’s stupid to at least discuss the idea of looking around. This was a Butch Jones performance. The whole idea of this post was to point out the fact that we are in a good position still. thus making it easier to attract coaches. Would you rather make a HC hire now, or in 2 years if the wheels start to come off. Our offense is a big concern whether you recognize it or not.
Again your ideas are so stupid they cause less stupid people physical pain.

You might be right, but it's not time yet.

It very may well be an overreaction. My concern is we wait too long and the program becomes undesirable. I just feel we are in the position now to attract a home run guy.
Until the “home run guy” realizes we just ran off a coach that led this team to the playoffs four years after taking over a job no one wanted.

Heupel should be thinking about upgrading, ie taking a long, hard look at his position coaches, and deciding which players need to be encouraged to hit the portal. OP is ludicrous.

There are levels to this football program thing. We have come a long way in a short amount of time. Like it or not, we had really become a fourth or fifth tier program. We were the definition of a dumpster fire. In year four we made the playoffs. Heck before Heupel we were so far from ranked it was pathetic. He has stabilized a lot and has gotten us to a point where we can improve and be good consistently.

Firing him is silly, especially at this point. If nothing ever changes and we decline, maybe there is some merit to that. I have my opinions and disagreements on how he does things and those but I am sure there are things he would change too given the opportunity. I don’t think we can survive to and through a playoff playing the snaps we do not can we with the systems we run. We substitute performance for tempo. When we can’t tempo and still mediocre performance, we get boat raced like we did this week. We are a philosophy built on playing with fire and I do not like it. But to turn our backs on a guy who has really saved this program we love while he is having more success than anyone not named Phil Fulmer would be treacherous and short-sighted.

I want I see some adjustments. If there aren’t any than we know he isn’t the guy long-term if we want more. This is the current ceiling, maybe really this was an over-achievement this year, but I for on am grateful for our coach and hope to see him get better and take us even further

Almost to the point where I am curious to see what Shane Beamer could do with this team, if things don't improve and the coaching staff doesn't get upgraded.

It's time to upgrade but not at HC. Martinez, ellarbee, and Pope have to go. Maybe halze has well.
Yes, these are the areas that need to be evaluated. Not saying change, etc....but they involve areas (OL, WR, DBs) that keep getting exposed lately when you're playing competition that matters when conference championships and playoffs are on the line. We saw a lot of that tonight.

Self analysis and exit interviews don't mean anything when you don't act on them, or roll out the same starters year to year.

The only guy I would say would be the guy you replace Heupel with that is a proven winner is Urban Meyer. Not saying I want this to happen at all. Idc what he does with college girls or anything else in his personal life. Tired of the moral victories we as Tenn fans hold close to chest. Can he win a natty. Yes. Can he recruit elite playmakers all over the field. F*** yes. But that’ll never happen. We don’t need a new head coach. We need to hire an elite staff to go along with Heupel.

Couldn't agree more. Would like this post a thousand times if I could.

Don't let them get to you OP. Anyone serious about UT Football knows Heupel has reached his ceiling here and will never get this program to any championship game. SEC or National.

Great guy but not all great guys have what it takes to win at the highest level that is SEC football.
