'19 TN WR Kendrell Scurry

I had a girlfriend in high school who was just like this. She said she was committed, but she opened up for everyone.

:eek:lol:

The staff drops a lot of committed kids. Only makes sense that these kids start to understand a commitment to the staff is always shaky at best. If they are smart, most keep their options open. If commitment means little to the staff, committed kids can't be expected to just HOPE they get to sign. Do that and you're setting yourself up as the next on the long list of "gotta make room" candidates.
Crunchy Leb back crunching spots for the '19 class. How many spots do we have available for 2019? I'll hang up and listen

lol....Absolutely no one in this thread is upset about a 2019 kid opening his recruitment back up Tony. The worst thing that has been said is "why would a kid commit 2 years early".

Sure Mays did, but most kids aren't him. I'm pretty sure he was born wearing a UT jersey.

Everything else has been said in jest.

Seems to me like people just start panicking once a recruit says he's opening his recruitment back up. That could mean bad but it could also mean nothing.

“Coach Azzanni leaving is a big part of my recruiting,” Scurry told SEC Country at the Atlanta Under Armor All-America Camp Sunday. “That’s the reason I committed to UT, well one big reason, because coach Azzanni’s a really good coach and I really wanted to work with him. He left me, so that’s a big part of it, that’s a really big part of it.”

More pertinent to Tennessee’s quest to retain the No. 12 receiver in the class of 2019 according to 247Sports, Scurry hasn’t developed anywhere near the same kind of relationship with Beard that he had with Azzanni. In fact, his relationship with Beard is virtually non-existent, outside of some infrequent phone communication. “He doesn’t really keep in touch a lot but he’s pretty cool,” Scurry said. “I don’t really know him so I really can’t say a lot about him.”

Scurry has, however, been in contact with the Vols’ coaching staff, talking mostly with head coach Butch Jones and Thigpen. That could be poised to change this weekend, as Scurry intends to make his first return trip to Knoxville since re-opening his recruitment.

Hope the visit goes well. Loved this kids attitude in his early comments about helping make the Vols great again. And with his measureables, he seems like he could be dangerous on the outside.

No biggie. Way too early. Butch would have had to nurse him along until signing day. Not worth it. Let him go look around and just stay in contact.

Generally I agree, but Kendrell has a chance to be very special. My son will be his QB the next 2 years and with TJ and Kendrell on the field it should be very interesting.

Important for sure. I believe he is just suggesting as we have seen that it all starts up front. No OL then it doesn't matter who surrounds them. Good to great OL allows playmakers opportunity to shine.

Hope we land all 3 in the end.

How's recruiting/camps going for your son?

Any updates regarding TJ sand Kendrell?

After a slow start to his soph season (3 TD's in 7 games) he finished strong with 13 in his last 8. He is 6'4" now and faster than last year. My son will be his QB the next 2 years and they played together on their freshman team. He told me that Kendrell is always his first read. If he has single coverage he knows he is going to be open. When they were Freshman Kendrell averages 29 yards per catch from Nathan. Plus with TJ Sheffield on the field doubling him is a difficult choice.

Nathan is playing for an elite 7 on 7 team with Kendrell this summer. They are doing very well.

Nathan has gotten invite letters from Vanderbilt and Cincinnati to attend their summer camps, so far more probably to come. He has an NCSA recruiting profile and Miami of Ohio and University of Ohio are following him there, along with a bunch of smaller schools. Then a couple of weeks ago USC (the california one) followed him there.

My son still has a lot to prove so this is all premature, but he has power 5 potential if he continues to progress. He is 6'4" now and has gained 15 lbs in the off season. He is really interested in going to a schools that runs a pro set instead of a spread, but we'll see.

Don't have a bead on TJ or Kendrell's preferences at this point. Being young kids I think they might have opened up so they would get invited for official visits from other schools, but not sure. I do know that most days in practice for 7 on 7 kendrell is wearing UT stuff, but I have seen him in LSU gear.

Here is a pic of my son from a recent 7 on 7 tourney, he is actually throwing this one to Kendrell on an out.

Does your kid have a thread here? I would genuinely be interested in following updates but would prefer to not have to dig through the other Independence guys' threads to find them.

I like the way he throws the football. I have not seen him run the ball once, but he can really throw the ball.
