Tee has always been given an absurd amount of credit for championships won when he was QB. The truth is that he was average at best as a QB. No big deal that he is receiving a lot of heat for this.

He didn't diss UT. He dissed Hurd... and that probably out of jealousy more than some sort of objective analysis.

I can remember a time when Chris Donald was "one of the best talents" TN had produced of late.

Let's let Hurd actually prove he's not soft then we can take some shots at a guy who won the first BCS NC game... FOR UT.

sorry your wrong... Manning has class, and that is the ONLY thing you need to keep from making a comment like this about a highschool kid, when you KNOW there are camera's and Mic's all around you. Even if he was in a room by himself.. there is no excuse for it.

And if this was the first time Tee scorned volnation then I would be inclined to overlook it.. but its not, He obviously has some unresolved issues with UT. Not even saying they are not justified, we don't know what happens behind the scenes.

But for me and mine, Tee is written off. Its a shame to have to say that about someone I admired just a few short years back and gave this university a NC.. But that is just the way it is. Sorry :cray:

IMHO, most of those who are having a cow about what he said... are afraid that it might be true. It doesn't bother me for precisely the reason you said. Additionally, even if Hurd is soft and not the player everyone hopes he is... this class has very good depth of talent. Someone out of the class WILL NOT live up to their ranking. Someone will be much better than their ranking. I'm a Vol fan, not a Hurd fan per se... so I am only concerned with the big picture.

The point should be that there is no way in hell Tee Martin could know whether he is soft and terrible or not. He certainly wasn't in the context of high school football, therefore how did Tee possibly come to this conclusion. Now if I said.....Tee Martin was a very average QB and probably would not have the job he has now if not for his teammates carrying him...that would be based on reality.

c'mon man. saying to hell with tee is one most ugly post you've ever seen. damn, you must not spend a lot of time on message boards. Look, you and I have something major in common. we both love the vols (obviously or we wouldn't spend a bunch of time on a vol message board). No sense in criticizing one another. But people should be able to post their opinion without getting blasted by other vol fans. Which is all I did. And by the way...many other posters on here share the same opinion as myself.

I'm not worried about what hurd will become. He's a great talent and most of his caliber go on to accomplish great things. But I'm also a realist...we have tons of cant miss prospects totally miss. The reason for the frusturation is this guy that was a former vol great publicly dissed a highschool kid for no apparent reason. And what compounds the issue is this particular former vol great has on more than one occasion dissed us in a very public manner. And to all who say its just something all coaches do in the "war room", name another incident where the school felt compelled to issue an apology on behalf of a coaches comments regarding a highschool player

If Tee were offered and accepted another chance to come back home and coach here at TN, the majority of this board ripping him a new one right now would be calling him a great coach, great recruiter, a VFL and another cog in the best staff in America.

Bunch of whining damn hypocrites.

BTW.....if Tee really thinks Hurd is soft then is he in turn calling Trojan RB Ty Isaac soft too? After all Hurd was compared to him a lot coming out of high school for his size and speed :question:

It could've been I suppose but it is not. VFL is a specific Dooley created program for football players.

Um, let's hope Hurd proves him wrong? Man's entitled to his opinion. Sour grapes or honest evaluation? Who knows for certain what the truth is? I just hope Hurd comes in, works hard, and makes him eat crow. I don't really care what Tee thinks, I just care what Hurd does for us on the field. Should Hurd not become the uber RB we all hope he is, are you gonna revisit this thread and say "Damn, guess Tee was right and I was a total jackass"? Highly doubtful.
