Tom Smith commits to the Vols

I look at this way. Any HS kid that is willing to wear the Orange for UT shouldn't be put down. Regardless of whether or not they are the top athlete in the country, we should show them our thanks for wanting to come to the university that we all supposedly support.

don't know but looking at the rest of the sec the top teams, florida, georgia, bama, lsu, auburn are just loading up as we fall farther behind. it is early yet, but i keep waiting for dooley to impress me and i just don't feel good about the program, more and more everyday.

Yea, cause Lane Kiffin never took any 3-stars or anything.

except when he made the offer to a 3* he was a recruiting genius... Dooley has the chops to get the job done... after his stint in the NFL had he stayed with Saban at Bama everyone would be drooling over the possibilities of what was to come in the next few years... but he choose to go a different route and I for one am excited about the possibilities with Dooley and his top notch staff...

It a good thing Dooley could care less about your opinions or how impressed with him you are.

I suggest you buy a pair of gorilla shoes and run, don't walk to France where you belong.

Don't get too worried considering most of the coaches at the other schools except for Auburn have been there for multiple years so they have good ties with high school coaches in the region, and most have a lot of in school state talent. Finally we should not expect to be on the same level as Florida and Bama right away considering those two head coaches have two national championships each. With that said anything can happen any given Saturday.

3 of those teams you named have won a NC in the past 3 years. UGA is in a great recruiting state, and they don't have had sustained success for several years, now. Auburn looked pretty good at times last year, and they're coach didn't leave. We are WAY far behind compared to those, so Dooley has a ton of ground to make up/ Most of the ground he needs to make up won't happen until after he's coached a few games. Comparing us to any of those teams is pointless at this time. And all of those coaches have at least a year on Dooley when it comes to creating relationships with the recruits.

I don't understand how people can expect to have a ton of really good commitments right now. If Kiffin was here, then yes; and that's only because he wouldn't be the 3rd HC in 3 years and he would have an extra year on Dooley when it comes to evaluating and building relationships with recruits.

Maybe since it seems a lot of you don't like Tennessee any more then the Vols should not even have a football team any more. Would that make y'all happy?

point made. time to get worried. behind and falling farther behind. thank you.

I can't help but realize this time a year ago when we got a low ranked commit everyone seemed to go on about how Coach O and Kiffin had found another "Diamond in the Rough" but when Dooley gets a kid out of Florida that looks to be a pretty good running back... he obviously doesn't know what he is doing. The man got some pretty solid recruits in a short time span last year.. and we are on the minds of alot of kids out there now... which is impressive after our last two seasons... so lets let him and his staff evaluate kids I trust he knows what kind of kid he needs on his team
Great first post, refreshing break from the morons.

what would make me the happiest is the immediate termination of mike hamilton. he has put tennessee football back a decade.

I'm pretty sure that will have nothing to do with Dooley bro. He walked into a big mess.

i agree with that 100%, but at the sametime he is not generating alot of excitement in the program. if he was getting big recruits and making a name for himself it is one thing, but right now he is just vince dooley's son. i'm hoping i'm just not a patient person and all this works out, but i'm not confident at all.

What would you like him to do? It's year 0 for him, and it's freakin' June.

Welcome to the Vols, Tom!!! I for one am glad to have u as a member of the big orange nation.

For all that bashes Dooley, give him a F'n chance! No matter who our coach is, if you're true UT fan and bleed orange why would you not support him? And let's give the haters the benefit of the doubt, what if Dooley doesn't do well here? Then put 1000% of the blame on Mike Hamilton! The guy screwed up the buy out clause in Kiffin's contract and when it was time again, just a year later to find another coach, he did a horrible job the whole process. He couldn't pull in a big name to save his life so don't blame Dooley for takin a great oppertunity by the balls. Everyone talks about 2 and 3* recruits becoming diamonds in the rough, maybe Dooley is that coaching diamond! Don't hate untill the guy actually coaches here. Top recruits will or will not come after they see what happens on the field.
