no i'm not basing my argument on that at all. i'm saying it's absurd to argue the kid has any obligation to meet with the new head coach. obviously if this was an ncaa rule that would be different.
He isn't obligated to meet with the new coach, just as UT isn't obligated to release him from his LOI. If he was told meet with the coach first and then we will release you if thats what you want, I really fail to see what his issue is. Suck it up, wait a week, then get your way.

The issue is that you're making him make the trip back up to Knoxville to listen to a pitch from a coach that he didn't sign to play for, and from the looks of it, doesn't want to play for.

Either way, it's a bit pointless. If he doesn't want to play for Tennessee, then he shouldn't be made to sit out a year.
If he has options, like everyone thinks or says he has, what is a week in the scope of the big picture??
If he adamantly refused to allow the coaches to come meet with him, then I would probably go ahead and release him. However, I don't know how realistic that is. I would imagine that most of the time a recruit in Jones and Ware's situation would at least be willing to sit down with the new coach of the team they signed with in making their decision.

What big picture? As a basketball recruit he wants to be able to talk, visit, and entertain every school that is willing to give him a scholarship before he makes a decision. Every day that goes by that he isn't able to do that, the potential exists for a school that would have had him to sign another player instead of him.
Sorry, but that just doesn't seem right given that he signed with different coach than the one currently running the program.
