I wouldn’t quite call it that. DeBoer has won everywhere he’s been and is 25-3 in the past 2 seasons at Washington. He’s proven himself. TBD how he will do in the SEC though. So bama had to go the way of everybody else, hire the hot coach of the year that nobody really knew before. Surprising.
Bummer
Except for he went 11-2 last year, won 11 or 12 at Fresno and has multiple NAIA championships. The man can flat out coach. He’ll have resources he’s never had before at Bama. This is the best hire out there from a pure coaching standpoint. So bama had to go the way of everybody else, hire the hot coach of the year that nobody really knew before. Surprising.
Not sure why people are *****ing on Dabo. He's easily in the running for best coach in the country now that Saban has retired.
That being said, I highly doubt there is interest there from either side. The expectations are unrealistic and his personality likely doesn't mesh well with the Bama donors, who like to meddle with coordinator changes and such.
They weren’t equally talented though on paper. Where does Washington match up vs Texas, Oregon and Michigan in recruiting rankings? He did what Saban couldn’t do this year and beat Texas.Kiffin is just about the only gump hire I would've been gutted by.
DeBoer has been good, but can his scheme hold up? His entire D1 career hinges on Penix (Indiana, Washington) and Haener (Fresno). He had an insanely good WR room this year, and look what happened when they played equally talented teams. His recruiting performance thus far will get him fired in the SEC fast.
