Tracking Saban's Replacement Thread

So bama had to go the way of everybody else, hire the hot coach of the year that nobody really knew before. Surprising.
I wouldn’t quite call it that. DeBoer has won everywhere he’s been and is 25-3 in the past 2 seasons at Washington. He’s proven himself. TBD how he will do in the SEC though.

With the resources available at Bama, having DeBoer there scares the living crap out of me...I get it, the whole 'guy after the man' thing, and the CRAZY expectations at that place, and lack of his experience recruiting the south or a place like Bama...but the dude is flat out proven winner and has shown he could coach eskimos to make ice cream.

Kiffin is just about the only gump hire I would've been gutted by.

DeBoer has been good, but can his scheme hold up? His entire D1 career hinges on Penix (Indiana, Washington) and Haener (Fresno). He had an insanely good WR room this year, and look what happened when they played equally talented teams. His recruiting performance thus far will get him fired in the SEC fast.

Except for he went 11-2 last year, won 11 or 12 at Fresno and has multiple NAIA championships. The man can flat out coach. He’ll have resources he’s never had before at Bama. This is the best hire out there from a pure coaching standpoint.

Not sure why people are *****ing on Dabo. He's easily in the running for best coach in the country now that Saban has retired.

That being said, I highly doubt there is interest there from either side. The expectations are unrealistic and his personality likely doesn't mesh well with the Bama donors, who like to meddle with coordinator changes and such.

Dabo's reluctance to go to the portal and his thin skin aren't things that would translate well to the pressure cooker in Tuscaloosa. You may be right that he's among the best coaches (especially those that are potentially available) but it just seems like an awful fit that would end badly.

You know, Alabama might have to endure a mediocre run without the guy they might really want until that guy becomes available. This comes at a time when the most desirable candidates are all in great spots.

Next move Lane makes playoffs next year. Takes over Florida for 2025 season and moves to Bama for 2028 season
Feel like the gaturds next coach will be Fisch from Arizona. In the NIL era, is Florida a better job right now than Ole Miss? They seem way behind the curve.

They weren’t equally talented though on paper. Where does Washington match up vs Texas, Oregon and Michigan in recruiting rankings? He did what Saban couldn’t do this year and beat Texas.

I think he is a good coach at lower levels who hasnt recruited a lot, especially in the SEC, who got lucky with playing with his Penix ;) he is unproven atm

I am excited if this is the bubba hire. There will be a great learning curve for us to take advantage of
Deboer will hang 40 on our choking coach
