Train derailment danger being covered up?

High viability shirt/vest, hard hat, eye protection, protective toe boots, long pants, hearing protection (on person) and gloves (on person) were required at every rail yard we have worked at.
I thought the railway director was exempt though šŸ˜‰

After today, I think we see WHY the Administration didnā€™t want to send Pete to the derailment site until now. He doesnā€™t even possess rudimentary political instincts or charisma. How in the world did he ever win a mayoral election?

Mayoral turnout is usually pretty pathetic. 15% is pretty good. Pete got 80% of 14% turnout, so about 1 in 9 registered voters in South Bend picked him.

MAGA don't care. MAGA just MAGAs.

Who would have thunk Jordan, Boebert and Green were morons? Who would have thunk that our government institutions under this and the previous administration had US citizens as its number 1 focus? I mean we are just sending the best and brightest to the hill. Oh and letā€™s focus on Hunter Biden. Thatā€™s solving problems too.

Further proof we have a bloated Federal Government that needs to be downsized significantly
Eliminate it altogether. The ONLY reason for a federal govt is to provide military/national defense. Leave the rest to the states. And get rid of the fed/central banks. They are a scourge on mankind.

Holy Cow. A reasonable man. I like where you are going.

had NOTHING to do with East Palestine derailment.

ā€The New York Times's source for this is Jennifer Homendy, a Democrat and head of the National Transportation Safety Board.
ā€œAnyone speculating about what happened, didnā€™t happen, or should've happened is misleading a suffering community ā€” PLEASE STOP SPREADING MISINFORMATION,ā€ Homendy said in a Twitter thread . ā€œFor example ā€¦ Some are saying the ECP (electronically controlled pneumatic) brake rule, if implemented, wouldā€™ve prevented this derailment. FALSE ā€” hereā€™s why.ā€
ā€œThe ECP braking rule wouldā€™ve applied ONLY to HIGH HAZARD FLAMMABLE TRAINS,ā€ she explained. ā€œThe train that derailed in East Palestine was a MIXED FREIGHT TRAIN. This means even if the rule had gone into effect, this train wouldn't have had ECP brakes.ā€

No, Trumpā€™s deregulation didnā€™t cause the East Palestine train disaster

The "fact checkers" at the liberal rag, Washington Post, admit "So far, Trumpā€™s rollback of regulations canā€™t be blamed for Ohio train wreck," -WAPO fact-checker Glenn Kessler.

Washington Post: No Evidence Trump to Blame for East Palestine Toxic Train Wreck

ā€œWe decided to examine every possible regulatory change made under Trump that could be related to the accident and assess whether it could have made an impact,ā€ Kessler wrote.

ā€˜From our analysis, none of the regulatory changes made during the Trump administration at this point can be cited as contributing to the accident.ā€

Kessler presented and then debunked several possible ways Trump could have helped cause the derailment.

When it came to electronically controlled pneumatic (ECP) brakes, Kessler noted although the Trump administration did get rid of the rule, the Biden administration made no effort to reinstate it.

Kessler also argued that ECP brakes would not have helped, noting that by the time the trainā€™s crew activated its emergency braking system, the train had already derailed.

National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chair Jennifer Homendy also dismissed allegations that Trump was responsible, explaining on both CNN and Twitter that the electronically controlled pneumatic brakes would not have prevented the derailment.

Kessler went on to debunk a claim that a Trump rule loosening brake safety inspection requirements contributed to the accident, writing that there ā€œis no determination yet that the braking system played a role in the accident.ā€

When it came to the amount of crew present, the Trump administration withdrew a proposal in 2019 that required two crew members on duty at all times.

As Kessler noted, the train had two crew members as well as a trainee."

NTSB Chair Rebukes Joy Behar for Blaming Trump Voters: 'Enough with the Politics'

NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy has blasted the claim by ā€œThe Viewā€ co-host Joy Behar that President Donald Trump and his voters are to blame for the East Palestine, Ohio, train derailment disaster.

Homendy says the brake rule, which Behar blamed Trump for repealing, ā€œwould not have preventedā€ the disaster.

Homendy also slammed all those, such as Behar, who are playing politics with the tragedy.

She said: ā€œThe wheel bearing failed on car number 23.

ā€œSo even with ECP brakes, the derailment would have occurred.

ā€œEnough with the politics on this. Enough with the politics.

ā€œI donā€™t understand why this has gotten so political.

ā€œThis is a community that is suffering.

ā€œThis is not about politics.

ā€œThis is about addressing their needs, their concerns.

No doubt the train crash in Greece is terribly tragic. But it took 18 days for the President (or his intern/staffer) to finally tweet about East Palestineā€¦.from Ukraine!! This seems at least a little tone deaf, and like a backhand slap to the face to the folks in Ohio.
