Good for you.

We have the largest prison population in the world and a large fraction of that is non violent drug offenders. "At least we aren't China." Is not consolation
Do you know what happens to drug offenders... violent or not... in the rest of the world?

Sorry, but I can’t help thinking what the consequences would be for a Chinese Olympian who burned the Chinese flag on the podium. Ouch

Americans are SOOOOOOOO oppressed aren’t they?
I wonder when the last time anyone saw this guy....

.... and all he did was stand up. Can you imagine if he would have burned a flag or a picture of Mao?

I would also add that this athlete is being rather selfish IMO. They have the opportunity to be a beacon to those like them, whether you agree with the decision to allow biological males to compete against females or not. The fact they threaten to do this, much less carry out that threat, does harm to the next generation of athletes like them. It's selfish.

The real issue here is that BMX is in the Olympics. Go back to the X games you degenerates.
Yeah... just one more reason that I don't gas about the Olympics anymore.

When it gets back to bigger faster stronger with zero judged events and zero professional athletes, I'll be interested.

So? The facts say it was peaceful, starting a fire on the medal podium is not. If it wants to take the flag and wipe it's ass with it on the stand fine, it can deal with sponsorship blowback.
As long as the athlete is burning their own flag, and not taking from a display, what's the violence?

Especially since burning is one of the few ways you are supposed to dispose of an American Flag. How to Properly Dispose of an American Flag - The National Flag Foundation

By the way....even SEARCHING for this image online in China is blocked now. I really wish all of the people complaining about how terrible the US is and how atrociously we treat them would have the privilege of spending just a single year in China, North Korea, or Venezuela
Emotionally stunted self important virtue signaling snowflakes....

Setting a piece of 3x5 cloth on fire standing within a couple feet of other people is reckless and violent. It wants to go outside and build a bonfire with US flags fine. On the podium while the ceremony is taking place is a violent act since it endangers innocent bystanders.

People complaining about how terrible the US is and how we are such an evil racist oppressive land, with armed agents of the state actively hunting down minorities, evil greedy capitalist companies starving workers and refusing to pay a living wage, gays and trans people being ran down on the streets, Republicans cutting off healthcare for children, and prisons being packed to the gills with peaceful non violent victims of the police state SHOULD be able to answer this ONE SIMPLE QUESTION.......
„Why are we building a wall on our border to keep people OUT instead of building one to keep people IN?“

Why aren't these "oppressed" peoples fleeing the US? There must be a better country for them

None of this means our government isn't oppressive. You have Stockholm syndrome.

And if sub-posting your response is your way of "proceeding" with the conversation, then you are completely disingenuous and possibly a coward.

. I get it. But riddle me this.......
Burning a US flag is obviously a BRAVE and daring act of virtue no matter how many Americans it offends? Got it. So what happens if I burn a PRIDE flag in public exactly? I will hang up and listen.......

Because oppression exists everywhere. Doesn't mean we should be comfortable with our level of oppression. How about we let people buy and sell unpasteurized milk? I don't see why the FBI needs to be raiding and prosecuting people over raw milk. Maybe you're cool with that and the war on drugs, and all the other oppressive ********. I am not.

Again, why is our population soaring with thousands risking their lives crossing deserts to sneak in here? Shouldn‘t people be fleeing like crazy. Answer me that one question and then we can proceed.

Opportunity, duh. It's not because our government isn't oppressive.

So please name for me a list of three „less oppressive“ nations.
Then, please explain why you haven‘t relocated to one of them? True oppression would not allow you the luxury of escape. The Berlin Wall was not built to keep people OUT of East Berlin you know. I will have absolutely no hesitation to become an expat the moment I believe I am being oppressed in this country. I have my list of destinations prepared and passport on hand if the day arrives.

Are they dosing themselves or the flag in gasoline before lighting up? Ranting and raving, twirling the burning flag around, and threatening the others on the podium?

I mean sure, in an absolute sense they are endangering themselves or others. But I put that risk to be extremely small to the point of being negligible. At worst this person will burn their own fingers.

How is it possible that you are still missing the point?
