Bitch and moan away then...don't see how this fanbase going toxic over this years recruiting helps a damn thing..but you do you since it makes you feel better to believe Heupel sucks at his job.
I’m mellow about recruiting….. I hope the staff lands who they want….. If we have the right coaches it will work it’s way out.

because this entire process was brand new to him. his life changed in one month.

I get that. But Texas was involved a month ago. They were one of the first teams besides us to show interest in him. They’ve been recruiting him as long as we have.

As such, I don’t believe the “once Texas got involved, it was all over” narrative. Which makes me feel like we didn’t close well enough. Not saying I couldn’t be wrong, but the circumstances of this recruitment don’t fit the idea that we could have never beaten Texas for this guy once they became interested.

Dude if you can't $ee what $wayed him then you are blind...I think he wanted in here, but it is obviou$ that they made a better offer to him and hi$ folk$.

Texa$ isn't even trying to pretend they are doing NIL the right way..they are outright buying players.

Yeah, I know. If that’s why we lost, we have to do better there too. I hate the fact that it’s the new reality, but it’s the new reality.

we pushed hard on a guy that we really wanted, we tried to close him before he would/could take visits. it wasn't a bad strategy by us.

Texas may have thrown their (10 gallon) hat in early, but they had other guys that they were working on. once they put their spotlight on him and he visited, there was simply nothing that we could do.

Good thing is we went from going to score a **** ton of points with him to still going to score a **** ton of points without him. Heupel will find a way. Just would have been easier having a proven threat opposite of Tillman so defenses can’t focus on him

I’m not saying you’re definitely wrong, but when you combine it with our other misses in this transfer cycle, I just don’t think it’s the whole story.

We had every reason to suck at high school recruiting this year , and did well in spite of it. We have every reason to be an attractive spot for transfers, and we’ve landed one player. Something is wrong there. I believe it’s our approach, and I think @Ulysees E. McGill correctly identified the problem a couple of posts back.

I'll panic in the year 2025. For now, we just need to give Heupel and staff space and time.

They are doing much better than I expected, honestly!
Anyone losing their minds now, lose their minds no matter what...IF they had minds to lose in the first place.

I still hold to what I've thought for awhile: if 2023 is average or below, I'll be concerned/disgusted then. Imo, Heupel and co, like on the field, have exceeded my expectations on the trail...and, the portal is FAR!!! from being closed. People conviently forget that both Velus and Payton transferred and arrived in the spring.

Yes, it's a bummer missing on the two transfers we went full bore after; but, that's how the ball bounces sometimes. This kid's family can walk to his games now; I guarantee that was the tipping point...meaning, we were NEVER going to compete with that.

Didn’t know who he was when he entered the portal….. don’t care now.
He's a good player. It's a big loss. No excuses, our coaching staff has to be better. We have now one portal player taken and have plenty of holes to fill. They are flubbing the portal big time and really seems like they have no plan
