'19 TX WR Isaiah Neyor

I’m not saying you’re definitely wrong, but when you combine it with our other misses in this transfer cycle, I just don’t think it’s the whole story.

We had every reason to suck at high school recruiting this year , and did well in spite of it. We have every reason to be an attractive spot for transfers, and we’ve landed one player. Something is wrong there. I believe it’s our approach, and I think @Ulysees E. McGill correctly identified the problem a couple of posts back.

I think there is truth in both of these statements:

1) We need to do better in the portal.

2) It's ok to not melt down and make large, sweeping assumptions based on losing a kid from TX to Texas.

There are also plenty of things that go into both of those statements that the common (or even avid) fan is not privy to.

I was as excited about the portal and our opportunity there as anyone. I wanted us to follow the Michigan State blueprint. We aren't. Is it because we are unable, for whatever reason? Is it because we are choosing not to, for whatever reason? Time will tell. In the meantime, there is no need to rush to either of those judgments based on a kid from TX choosing Texas.

For the record, NIL is going to destroy College Athletics. In my opinion, it’s going to be so saturated with transfers, there is going to be no loyalty what so ever.

The NCAA is going to have to put a cap on this or it’s gonna get so MUCH worse.
Why they didn’t have a grip on this thing from the start is beyond me.

Do you honestly think our coaches have had a cogent, successful portal plan? My God, they are not beyond reproach. Teams are filling up holes left and right and we have 1 person currently.
We’re docking ourselves 10 scholarships this year due to the Pruitt violations. We don’t have room to take a lot of guys in the portal right now, and won’t until after spring ball when more guys transfer out.

One of the few RARE times where I actually feel bad for the kid in this scenario. He used his one "free" transfer and he goes to Texas....if he came to UT he would have been a 2nd-3rd pick in this offense on the biggest stage in college football. Dont see that upside with Texas. I just feel like he made a bad decision. Tennessee will be fine at WR, don't think this really hurts Tennessee. Plenty of young guys to fill that spot, I actually feel bad for the kid in this situation. Hell, Ole Miss would have been a better spot for him.

From what I understand about the court ruling, and the fact that it’s “conducted by 3rd parties,” I don’t think the NCAA can do anything to limit it outside of policing direct involvement by the university.

10 in one year? My gosh that seems excessive.

So, you're saying this flip is not because of the home state school, and is entirely because we got out-bid by NIL? Interesting.

Do you honestly think they don't? That the portal is just too much for them to wrap their heads around? Do you know how many spots they even have? Do you know who they are even considering? Do you know what they think about what they already have? Do you think that just maybe for once in 20 years we have a staff that trusts their abilities to actually develop whats on the roster?

Hurry up the train of NO's is leaving the station.

Unless...now hear me out...its just where he wants to go.

I don’t think the NCAA, as it is presently constructed, has the power to stop what is happening. They are a powerless, useless organization at this point.

Yeah, I know. If that’s why we lost, we have to do better there too. I hate the fact that it’s the new reality, but it’s the new reality.
My problem is everybody blaming the coaches...I think this stuff is completely out of their hands, but they are the ones catching the 💩 for every failure to close.

You'd have to be a blind fool to not $ee what i$ going on with thi$ $tuff.
