UNC and Duke Basketball, 2015-16

Well, it's going to be emotionally ravishing Saturday night at Hansbrough Indoor Stadium, on the campus of the Duke Blue Devils, just eight miles down the road from historic rival, the UNC Tar Heels.

Watch Coach K say a heartfelt goodbye to long-time one-and-doner, Branden Ingram. Watch as he also decides to officially endorse the presidential campaign of Senator Ted Cruz, another Duke player. Participate with Coach K and his legions of Dukies as they make way for next year's batch of "we hardly knew ye" incoming players.

And don't forget that matchup between the Blue Devils and the Heels. Yes, the stage is set for another incredible night of action at Hansbrough Indoor.

Thornton, Jackson, Kennard, Jones, probably Allen, Tatum, Giles, Jefferson, Jeter, and DeLaurier. Man, I can't wait for next years batch of "we hardly knew ye" players. You UNC fans better hope you win Saturday, which you should win, bc if not you're definitely not beating Duke next year. When is the last time Duke will have had the collection of talent and depth that they will have next year? Next year makes me so giddy!

You mean Ingram from Kinston, the Tar Heel stronghold and Ingram the protege of former Tar Heel great Jerry Stackhouse? The same guy Roy recruited for years? Just another in a recent long line that will be a lottery pick that didn't go to Carolina. The important thing is that you develop your good talent like Marcus Paige, he's been improving each and every year..or not, how about James Michael Mcad... Nevermind bad example or Kendall Marshall, well maybe not, Harrison Barnes has turned into a solid 10&5 guy in the pros. And what about your sweet darling Tyler mouth breathing " I took mostly AFAM classes and could barely pass anyways" Hansbrough? He has blossomed into a wonderful pro. He's killing it this year averaging 2&2.

But hey, these guys give a helluva Senior day speech.

I'd say there's a greater than 90% chance Allen is gone. That team will be nasty though

Man, does that underwear get in a wad!

Hansbrough just has that kind of way.

Nah. Just funny that this thread is full of criticism because of Roy's criticism, most notably his failure to adapt to the new game, then you decide to trash K because he has adapted.

Can't argue the Ted Cruz/Allen comparison

Idk man, he keeps slipping on draft boards despite have a great season. He may be one of those kids, which I think he is, that just truly wants to play for Duke. Plus, I also think he needs to stay another year to develop more of a mid-range game, especially a floater.

He's still a first-round pick, IMO. If that's true, he has to go, because I can't imagine going from borderline All-American this season to probably the third-best player on his own team next season is going to help his draft stock. I have no doubt that he loves Duke, but he's accomplished everything he possibly can.

Just because K has adapted to this new game that hardly resembles college basketball any longer doesn't mean I like him or the current system. But it is what it is, and there's going to be no going back. May as well adjust if you're a coach, no matter what fans like myself may think.

College basketball is now essentially just a one-year farm league "testing ground" for the NBA to weed out the good lottery high school talent from those who are just pretenders. They're not going to change that rule, so I may as well just deal with it. Still doesn't mean I like it or Duke basketball, for that matter.

There are ~10-15 one-and-doners every year. If you just reset the rule to where it used to be and let high school players in, most of the people everyone complains about would skip college anyway.

I just don't see the point of limiting it. If someone has a huge sophomore year and his draft stock is at its peak (like Grayson Allen), I say let him leave.

Amile Jefferson is officially done for the year, and is applying for a hardship waiver to play next year as well.

****ing Hansbrough is at the game. What a prick. Maybe he's starting a library.

Tyler Hansbrough Library for kids who can't read good.

I don't even like college baseball's rules, although they are a bit better. If the athlete is an adult, then they should be able to do what they want, just as a NBA franchise has the right to draft him or not. I understand why the NBA wants to use this rule so as to curtail financial waste and risk, but this should not come at the expenditure of one year of a athlete's productive athletic life, which is too short, as it is.

If NBA franchises are too afraid of the risk, then they just need to draft an upperclassmen that is already a proven commodity, although perhaps not as high reward. Likewise, if a graduating high school seniors are told that it is unlikely any franchise is currently willing to take the risk of drafting him in the lottery (in other words, he still has something to prove), then he should use at least one year of college to increase his market value.

It's as simple as that. This rule currently only benefits the wealthy owners while limiting the active earning careers of athletes. It's only one year, but that's a lot in an athlete's earning life.
