UNC and Duke Basketball, 2015-16

Well when the "Carolina Way" proved to be perhaps the biggest lie college athletics it should make UNC fans shut up.

After dealing with major athletes in a major sports program and after the events that occurred at UNC, I've reached the following conclusion: everyone is up to their eyeballs in it. Some just do it better than others, and the only real question is whether or not you get caught. I don't hold cheating against anyone anymore as I just assume my own teams and programs are doing it as well.

About the only type of cheating I would actually hold against someone now is for on-the-field cheating, like what Brady did, or if it was discovered a baseball player was using a manipulated bat. Steroids is kind of a murky area for me still, although I also assume just about everyone uses them. It actually affects on-the-field performance though, so I still largely hold that against players personally.

I'd say that what happened at UNC is significantly worse than Barry Bonds or whoever doing steroids.

Defend the three and pass out of the double team to open shooters on offense. I think they will see agressive doubles down low all night. Gotta be smart and hit shots

Then I could assume that Lance Armstrong is still a good guy in your eyes. If ever there was a sport that is rife with cheating it is pro cycling yet the world has vilified Armstrong for doing what literally (nearly) everyone was doing to win. Yet no one has done more in terms of giving hope to victims and resources to find a cure for cancer. Cheating is cheating and should never be condoned regardless.

You know, Coach K has won an awful lot of games. Maybe he's a genius.

People used to think John Wooden was a genius. Turns out all that it was was a rich guy funneling him players behind the scenes.

Everyone is dirty. Don't kid yourself.

Never provided any commentary on the morality of cheating. Just the reality of it.

Well you guys are here and playing tonight so what's going to happen?

Assuming Villanova doesn't shoot 118% from the field again and assuming that UNC doesn't have a reversion game, hearkening back to February, I think UNC should win.

I think it's going to be very close though, much similar to Nova's game against Kansas. Clearly, it could go either way, but I think UNC will most likely be better on most days than Nova, so I'm going with UNC.

I said the same essentially about the Panthers against the Broncos, and that one game scenario didn't play out well. Hopefully this one works out differently.

Do you guys realize that, if UNC wins tonight, this will be the third time (all in the past 25 years) that UNC and Duke have won titles either the year before or after the other? 92/93, 09/10, and possibly 15/16.

That line applies to steroids much more than it applies to UNC's fake classes.

Everyone funnels athletes into easy classes probably. Not everyone says, "Here, let's have someone write a paper for you and now you're done for the semester."

It was really obvious with Wooden, btw, even at the time.

I'm thinking UNC wins by 1 because with Villanova on the free throw line with 0.1 seconds left and Villanova commits a lane violation to lose. Typical Tar Heel freak show National Title game win.

None of which happened in '05 or '09.

Good half of b-ball. Villanova is having to work for everything they get, Carolina is getting what they want but need to go inside more. Depth and fatigue may become an issue for Villanova.

Typical Roy. When he plays a team as equal in talent or maybe a little better he can't coach his team out of a shoebox. Thankfully for Roy, the players on this team are good enough and can comeback and win without him on the bench.
