UPDATED Tim Banks a potential candidate for Miami and Clemson DC

It has nothing to do with being appreciated. It's about the lack of integrity and professionalism within our athletic department and administration. Head coaches and coordinators in college sports who are doing their jobs, even at average level, should not be coaching on an expired contract.

The athletic administration did the same thing to coach Vitello. He went to college world series 3 times I believe and was coaching on expired contract when he won world series. That should never happen.
He’s had a contract to sign for a while and chosen not to.

I have thought about this carefully. We need to keep Coach Banks. He knows how to work hand in hand with Josh and a tempo offense and I have a feeling we are going to see more of that. Part of the issue with tempo was some OL who couldn’t handle it. I hope we do not have to find someone willing to deal with that. Not extending him last year is why he feels under appreciated. It’s not a fan on an anonymous message board.

Why did he not sign his contract? If that is the case he is still here by his own choice.

Since you have made the statement you need to show us evidence that our athletic department and administration lacks integrity and professionalism. If that were the case why did Vitello decide to stay here?

The offense comes from Art Briles, not Hal Mummy. We do not run an air raid offense, we run a veer and shoot. Hal Mummy is said to be the creator of the air raid. So you are up the wrong coaching tree.
How do I know about our offense? Because I didn't get the information from someone internet idiot. I got it from Art Briles. Plenty of information out there about Briles & CJH. Maybe you should just stick to high school football.

You are actually saying that in 2022 we ran more complex routes that we did in 2024. Why do you think that is? Maybe because our 2024 receivers could not make the correct read!! Going fast doesn't mean we have set routes, it still requires our QB and WR's to manipulate the defense and be on the same page.

Our WR's(when the offense runs correctly) have many options based on their cover man, the NB, the safeties, and lb's in coverage. If you think reading all those and running the correct route isn't cerebral. Then I don't have enough crayons to spell it out for you.

Hyatt and Tillman are both buried on the depth chart behind some pretty good WR. Neither one of them play for a good team with tons of offense. Guess Hendon is a tertible QB since he cant get on the field. Trying to defend saying they aren't good because they don't catch 100 balls for 1500 yards and make the pro-bowl says a lot.

if you are such an offense guru, then how do you explain our WR's going from having options to running such basic concepts?

p.s. I will stick to golf, I make a very good living playing the game.
What Josh runs is a combo of BOTH not Art Briles full offense, yes he married a Briles but he never coached directly with Art and he was coached by Mumme disciple Leach at Oklahoma and had a very good relationship with Mike. So no, not going to listen to Art Briles when he says that Josh runs his offense because Art Briles is nothing but a ego maniac that got ruined due to that ego as he thought he could do no wrong, so now everyone’s offense is about him! Also by the way Art Briles offense wasn’t his anyways, he coached it in high school after watching another high school coach use less talented players win a lot of games!

Also I made good money coaching football and wrestling until I had a family and decided that wasn’t the life I wanted anymore. So I don’t have to watch some stupid video telling me what offense we run and how smart our WR’s and QB have to be to run the veer and shoot, because I coached players in every kind of offense you can play and when I say, ITS MUCH EASIER for a less talented WR and QB to play in a fast pace offense, I’m not having to watch videos to know that, I lived it! So keep watching those videos thinking they actually make you smart, hence why you should stick to golf because football sure as heck isn’t your sport but to sit there and cheer as a fan!

Kiss his feet. As far as I’m concerned he has only fielded 1 good defense in 4 years. I get it was an uphill battle with what he walked in to, but people certainly praised him this year.
Defense is only 33% of the game. I think he gave his 33%. Not sure about our offense. Receivers, QB, and OL were average at best.

See how it works. Everyone has opinions.

I mean I think Banks is a good DC but if he’s interviewing for a lateral move. That’s a bad look. Obviously his mind is already out the door. Of course all this could be made up media BS. You offer him a good contract if that not enough, go out and grab another DC. Might take a step back but I always thought he would be gone soon as a HC somewhere. If I’m white I tell Heupel he has a blank check to get whoever he wants college or pro. University can’t do anything about nil but they can on coaches salaries. If you think you can’t do better throw whatever you need to keep banks here.

I think we probably should’ve extended him. I think it worked in his favor he’s probably worth more this year than if he were extended last year. I think it was a dumb move to float his name out as interested in other DC jobs personally bc I think he has a chance to move on to head coaching job soon if that’s what he wants. Going to Clemson or Miami might turn that on its head.

So coach, how does a reciever manipulate the safety playing over the slot reciever? If the receiver is able to break down the leverage, what route should they run?

Where did you coach? What years? Record?

Not saying you are right or wrong, but Hal Mumme’s oc at Kentucky was Mike Leach, who was Huepels oc at Oklahoma.

Art briels also worked for Leach at tx tech.

I think our offense is a mixture of the two.

I think you’d find almost 0 Mumme and/or Leach in what we do.

For example: I don’t think I’ve ever seen our team run mesh route. Mumme once told me when he was in doubt and didn’t know what to do, he would just call mesh. It was his go to play.

I don't know if it's already been said here, but objectively speaking, if I'm Banks and I know a lot of the DLineman who was the biggest reason why our defense did well this year are gone, I'd probably bolt as well.

Yea, you are probably right, I doubt CJH uses anything he learned from his college coach and mentor.

What elements are air raid? I will wait…
All good systems steal ideas from others. I don’t claim to be an expert, and I doubt you are either but our passing concepts are pretty damn close to what I saw Leach and his other disciples running.

Specifically option routes and wide spreads.

I am sure you also know that Broiles worked for Leach at tx tech, so he was also influenced by him.
