UPDATED Tim Banks a potential candidate for Miami and Clemson DC

Why would you think the Vols job is MUCH better than a Miami job? There is no comparison between Knoxville and Miami. Coaching for Cristobal is almost a sure fire path to a Head Coaching position. Miami would probably pay more too. If they make an offer, Banks would be crazy not to take it.

Defense definitely wasn't the problem this year. Offense was atrocious and that's supposed to be our head coach's baby. Pretty concerning.

Head coach refuses to fix it by keeping his friends on staff. No accountability. Clock is ticking on adjustments.

If the money were the same and I had a decent head coach (Miami does), I would live in Coconut Grove or Coral Gables over Knoxville….tomorrow. Maybe Banks wouldn’t see it as a step down??

Miami has 29 fans and Cristobal is overated and their D has a lot more holes to fill to be good. I don’t see Banks playing the vertical game anymore especially with a bigger D rebuild than he has at Tennessee.

I personally know of a coach who coached with Cristobal and he thinks he's a joke. This coach is pretty well regarded and has coaches at top 25 programs for 20 plus years, including as a head coach. It's just one coach's opinion, but I'd tend to think others agree. I've said too much.

Man, it’s fans like you that disgust me. Banks is great DC. He was proven before he came to UT. And he has shown improvement each year. And this year his defense won us games we would have lost otherwise. He proved this year that his system works once he gets the players he needs.

It’s amazing how quick some of our fans forget about the past 1 1/2 decades of terrible coaching losing seasons. We have a solid head coach in CJH and a solid DF coordinator in Banks. We made the playoffs in 2024. WTF?

Respectable answer but Babks is not good at adjusting in game He’s an ok DC but not great I do think we can do better. He benefited A LOT from Garner D Line for sure. He hasn’t recruited well at the 1 position he is in charge of outside being D Coordinator also so another knock on him. I say if he wants to go to Miami or anywhere else let him and go find a GREAT Defensive mind to be coordinator

I gotcha. I respect the fact that you respect me. I never cared much for Will Muschamp, but he was a great D-Coordinator. We were #7 in Total Defense in country and #2 in the SEC. Our final SOS was #12 in country per ESPN.

Honestly, we need to give him a raise. Our coaching staff is pretty low cost right now. I just can't keep understanding how we don't have more money right now with the Haslems, Sprye, etc. I am thinking we need to audit or NIL collective to make sure they are actually spending the money and not pocketing chunks of it.

I do wish Banks would blitz more, but that's not his style. I myself am very happy with Huep and company overall. We are actually winning for the most part. No losses to Vandy, GA State, ect. We should count our blessings and love the fact that we are slowly improving, and are relevant again.
