Urban challenging Slive?

Could one piss on slive without splattering Chinless?
Posted via VolNation Mobile

At the moment, it depends on which side of CUM, the mighty Tebow is standing.

And splattering on Tebow really isn't that inviting as he's probably the only redeeming quality Gator football has left.

Yes, clearly there's a conspiracy alive and well to keep Florida alive in the national title hunt.

Florida, the school that had its SEC title vacated for doing under Charley Pell what Bama did under the Bear for years.

Florida, the Johnny Come Lately whose championship pedigree is less than 20 years old.

Florida, the black sheep of the SEC because it's not in a traditional southern state (unless you're talking North Florida).

Florida is the SEC's new sacred cow....unbelievable... :eek:lol:

So why are you defending him so vehemently?

Defending him as a UF fan only adds more to the conspiracy theories.

Criticizing him as a UT fan after he publicly reprimanded your coach twice doesn't exactly look all that objective either.

If you don't think UF is good enough to win the national title without some help, then that's your opinion and you're entitled to it.

I just don't think Slive is some sort of evil puppet master with sinister intentions to prop up Florida and Bama while taking a dump on Tennessee.

Silve and ESPN needs to get off tebow and floridas cock, its annoying as hell. Its like segregation, top teams get the good restrooms while were left with crap

:eek:lol::lolabove:

Wow. Comparing the ESPN love fest with Florida to segregation. I'm struggling to see the connection, but the post did make me laugh.

The irony of a coach who just got a game giftwrapped from the zebras now chimes in to publicly complain about a 'no call.'

CUM is the quintessential whiner. He goes to Slive with his issue, doesn't get his way, and then goes public. He's going to whine until somebody sticks a bottle in his mouth.

How anyone fails to see that CUM is the greatest whiner of all time is beyond me.

In fact, I believe Lawrence once claimed no evidence of such whining existed. Lawrence, are you such a homer that you are still blind to this reality?

Pay attention, Lawrence. You won a game because the refs gave it to you.

The question is simply whether your loss of that game would have kept you out of the NC title game. Nothing more.

I think fans of different teams have varying degrees of reality.

Kiffin insinuating that there's a conspiracy to keep Florida and Alabama alive in the BCS title hunt following the UT-Bama game rings hollow to those not affiliated with Tennessee. Why? Because the game was still there for the taking had 1) Lincoln converted just one FG and 2) Kiffin knew the rule regarding Cody removing his helmet being a dead ball foul.....but that's not whining as far as you're concerned, correct?

Petrino thought there were bad calls made during the UF-Arkansas game and made it known. He was correct.

Richt thought the celebration call on AJ Green against LSU was a bad call and made it known. He was correct.

Mullen thought UF's linebacker was stripped before the ball crossed the goal line. He was correct.

Meyer thought Tebow was hit late and made his thoughts known. He was correct.

But Meyer is the only whiner in your opinion right?

The common denominator here seems to be the complete incompetence of SEC officials this year. Turns out all of the coaches had a legit beef...except Kiffin with respect to the Bama outcome....but again it's only Meyer who's the whiner out of the group.

Different reality I guess.

?

I would say he is second behind this guy:

"You run another play and throw an interception,'' Kiffin told reporters in Knoxville, "or they throw another flag on us. I wasn't going to let the refs lose the game for us there. You know, a magical flag appear. At that point, it's nine penalties to one.:cray: We're the second-least-penalized team in the country going into the game. They're 60th in the country. And you go down there and it's very disappointing to have nine flags thrown against you and one against them.'' :cray:

He added ... "I'm sure we'll get one of those letters that mean nothing, that (Arkansas coach) Bobby (Petrino) got last week, but Florida and Alabama live on." :cray:

The refs made a horrible call on a 1st down play.

Did the refs cause Arkansas to miss two chip shot field goals, one of which would have given them the lead late?

Meyer thought Tebow was hit late and made his thoughts known.

He made his thoughts known to the SEC Commish, didn't get what he wanted in resolution, and then went public with his whining.

For the record, I wasn't keen on Kiffin's comments about refs either and stated that here.

That's how we're different. I didn't go to a UF board to defend his whining as you have chosen to do here on CUM's behalf.

It shows less principle on your part. That's all. Nothing personal.

To me all the coaches whine a lot...

And to me none of the coaches were wrong in their complaints of the calls....

My issue is that of the calls you mentioned all except one went in favor of UF or Bama (I'm not complaining about a specific call but the unequal calls in general in the UT-Bama game)

Mike Slive was trying to take a hard line with the new rules. He clearly was aiming the rule at CLK in the way he publicly released his reprimand of him. (I still haven't seen Dan Mullen's in the newspapers)

Last week Florida fans were laughing their ass off at the new rules against coaches who criticize officials (at least the ones I know were).

I'm just happy to see that these rules are going to be enforced equally (hopefully) because clearly a lot of the games have not been called equally or fairly this season.

Is that whining or making excuses?

Or both?

I don't get that part about a Gator fan. You have Championships that you won fair and square.

Recognize charity when you get it. Show some dignity, would you?

Your coach has some inferiority complex that the fans adopt or vice versa. It's really unbecoming of a true champion.

It was whining about the refs, sure

It wasn't making excuses, it was a response to a question asking why he chose to kick the FG and run down the clock instead of taking a shot at the endzone. He also took full responsibility for that decision, mind you.

Lane Kiffin got penalized for his criticism with a reprimand as per the SEC bylaws at the time.

All we are asking is that Meyer not be treated any differently. Slive clearly stated that for the foreseeable future he would be handing out immediate fines and/or suspensions for criticizing the officials.

We're waiting......

Every coach had a legit beef about calls except Kiffin following the Bama game. But in Kiffin's defense few of us knew the Cody helmet removal was an automatic dead ball penalty. Then again I'm not a head coach in the SEC who's paid to know the rules. That said it's a stupid rule.

Using the refs as an excuse as to why he didn't call another play before Lincoln missed that last FG is a cop out. Just say you had confidence in your guy to make the kick, not that you were afraid to call plays because of what the refs MAY have called.

I expect the rules to be enforced equally, and it's Meyer's turn in the barrel. His comments about Tebow aren't nearly as harsh as what Kiffin said following the Bama game. I expect Meyer to be reprimanded and fined nonetheless.

I think you have your facts wrong....nothing personal....

Meyer answered a question from Pat Dooley from the Gainesville Sun about the hit on Tebow.

The SEC brass caught wind of it and now they are reviewing Meyer's response to see if it warrants anything more than a fine or a reprimand based on the new letter of the law.

And I've gone record on this and several other message boards saying that Meyer should be reprimanded for his response about Tebow.

Given Meyer's comments what do you think a fair punishment should be?

Kiffin's comments may be whining, but to say he was untruthful is to show you don't know him and aren't paying attention. The man simply speaks his mind.

As for CUM's complaints about Tebow, they are more challenging to the SEC commissioner's office because they occurred after strong language about what the consequences of such actions would be.

I don't expect a Gator fan to understand how discipline works, but if you are 'the Man" and you "lay down the law" and someone (almost immediately thereafter)violates your law, you must discipline them with purpose (e.g. a lot more than a half-game suspension for trying to poke a kid's eyes out).

To summarize what has happened....Slive and Meyer have $h%$ and fell in it. Update at 11:00 or whenever Slive is able to pull himself out of the pile, grow some and reply as the nation watches and waits ....

A fine. I don't think it's worthy of a suspension.

Personally I think its BS to suspend any coach for criticizing the refs and that's the main point

But if you're going to do it with one coach...you damn well better be ready to do it to another.

But what I've seen out of Slive regarding Meyer makes me unsure if he'd do anything.

Slive's statement after the Brandon Spikes suspension told me all I need to know about what he would do in this situation if he had his wishes. He wouldn't do anything. Everybody outside of Gainesville knew suspending him for a half was weak but Slive rushed to his immediate defense.

I don't like Meyer because he's our rival

I don't like Slive because I see him as playing favorites. He might not like Kiffin's smart mouth or comments, but he's gone very far to show that publicly and that's out of line if you're a commissioner of a conference
