USU Aggies Spring Ball Video

Yeah USU didn't win that game, NIU lost. During the second half before we took a two td lead with under three to go and went into prevent we had allowed one first down---on a fake punt. We allowed them under 50 yards rushing in the second half. But yeah, they were blowing through our line most of the night.

"blowing through the line" lol they had 99 rushing yards all game. they averaged 299. lynch was held to his career low, except for one game vs purdue which they won by 30 and he didn't play late.

NIU was a very bad defensive team in the MAC. They had 220 and 230lb DEs for crying out loud. They were one dimensional offensively and had just lost the week before to Bowling Green. You won 21-14. The poster should have been underwhelmed like he said he was. USU offense didnt do much. Then you realize 80% of that USU team is now gone then we shouldn't be too worried.

It was the bit about the line being blown out that I was miffed by. Our defense played very well last year and most especially in that game. Our offense was pitiful without Chuckie and four other starters last year, you're right on about that one.

that game had our starting
QB
RB
TE
OL
OL

all out with injuries.

held them to fewer yards/points than iowa (twice), purdue, and florida state. Say what you want about our offense with six starters out. it wasn't good. but our defense was great.

You also called yourself Jeff Gordon. Seeing how he's the one guy I can name, I'd say you're reaching.
. You leave me with a tough decision here. Should I point to your lack of reading comprehension or to your response to an analogy without taking time to understand it?
I didn't know tennessee had won a natty before I came to this board. No offense or anything. I was just 10 or 11 when it happened.
Your ignorance isn't our responsibility. No offense or anything but educate yourself before talking smack

I have talked zero, zero, zero smack about your "history" and your "tradition." so I don't know what you're getting at. you read whatever you want from the words. it's fascinating.

Utah State fans have made this game a bit more important to me. I just wanted to get through it with no injuries. Now it feels like we need to smash them in response to the somewhat insolent nature of their fans. They should not be on here talking smack. The only reason they are is because they think that we are down. Which is typical.

If you don't realize by now that every fanbase has its fair share of insolent fans trolling opposing fans message boards I'm not sure what I can do to help you realize this is normal. I see very little smack being talked, only one fanbase stating reasons why his squad will compete and talking recruiting, returning starters, schedules- that kind of thing.

My apologies, I should've specified which line. I was referring to your offensive line.

we were down 2 starters on the line, but i don't think it was really that bad. they had 2 sacks all game and we ran for 170 yards with our backup RB. that's also why we aren't super worried about replacing 4 guys though. 1 was very good, but the rest were meh. our offense was not pretty at all, but it wasn't due to NIU's defense, that's for sure. we were just limping along on offense and letting our defense do all the work.

After looking at USU's schedule for this year, I could see them going anywhere from 5-7 to 10-2 (Reg Season)

They have a lot of games that could be toss ups.

Wake Forest
Arkansas St.
BYU
Colorado St.
UNLV
Boise St.

Im gonna make a wild prediction and say they go 7-5

I don't mean to get technical, but there is literally zero percent chance that we finish the regular season 7-5 or 10-2 (or 8-4 or 9-3 for that matter) :)

How the hell do you think they do that? By putting out a very accurate line. If anything, the public perceives Tenn to be much better than USU, so wouldn't the oddsmakers compensate for that? And make the line even higher in favor of Tenn compared to what it is by their statistical analysis?

People act like they pull these spreads out of their asses and hope the public bets 50/50. The best way to get 50/50 betting is by putting out a perfect line. They adjust accordingly if the betting is too lopsided. The opening line is almost always the closest, most accurate representation of what they believe both teams are worth.

If you don't understand oddsmaking... go educate yourself.

Gee this has been fun to read! SJT18 did you have fun hammering those poor boys. I have to agree with you about the score. I think this will be a 21 point win. Btw USU fans your good LBs we play guys 2-3 times better than them every week. Our OL is going to maul them all game and Hurd and Lane are going to run all over you. Let's not forget that your DB are inexperienced and our WR are better than advertised. Chuckie or whoever your QB is at the time is going to spend a lot of time running for his life the whole game. We have a bunch of hungry, angry young men out to prove themselves. Be prepared for a beat down! Oh and MJA if you think it's going to be close have the balls put a $100 down and take the points. USU will not be that close. This team is NOT like the teams we have field the past 5 years that you trolls have compared it to. Good luck keeping it close to 10 which is where the line will probably be at kickoff.

SJT did I not say somewhere in the middle of the season that I thought Jones was cutting his losses with that team! If they made a bowl that was just a bonus.

Probably. If you did then maybe my reformed opinion came from a seed you planted.

Hey! Don't discount the odds of a hurricane in Tennessee or Arkansas or Utah during the September hurricane season! It could happen.

Yeah. Auburn said pretty much the same thing---said they were "gonna show us a whole new level of physicality". They came into the game with two consecutive top-5 recruiting classes. Their line on both sides of the ball was stacked with blue chippers. When it was done, they'd rushed for 78 yards and us 227. You might roll us, but its far from a certainty. Wisconsin was much bigger and (arguably) more physical than Tennessee. We did okay against them.

And who won those games?

AU played terrible and was a 7-5 regular season team. They played bad and still won. It was three years ago.

You know guys. I'm really starting to worry. Maybe the Vols shouldn't even show up for this one. I mean USU almost beat Auburn the year AFTER they lost Newton. And even though almost none of the best players from that Aggie team are on this one... and the HC moved on... that game means that USU is going to outclass, outplay, and out physical the Vols.

Someone needs to get a petition going. We don't want our boys to get hurt against those mid-major bullies.

I guess you mean that Auburn teams that had just lost Newton and was still coached by Chizik, right? If Jones is another Chizik and you help expose him... we'll be grateful.

Wisconsin? You mean that team that was so "physical" that they struggled with FCS Northern Iowa and a 3-9 UTEP team around the same time they played you? Yep. So physical that they only beat one team in the regular season (you) that finished with a winning record. That certainly puts you in great company, huh?

There is no reason why Utah State will compete (seen none posted yet anyway). I expect them to be beaten quite easily.

What is it that gives you guys confidence it will even be a game? A series of almost wins you've had against a series of almost good teams? The fact that we've hit our worst stretch in 100 years? The fact that you have a QB named Charles P. Keaton? The fact that you share a school name (Aggies) with an actual good team (aTm)? Fukoutahere with that noise.

Simple fact: If USU could have done what a 5-7 UT did last year (beat the #5 team in the final rankings), it would have gone down as their programs greatest victory EVER.

So, what UT had accomplished in their worst of years is better than what USU has EVER accomplished.

Snideness aside and despite hoping we win 72-14, the USU game could easily become like the USA game. The elements for that to happen are more in place than it was for the USA team. Mainly because we don't have that 'vaunted' OL anymore. This time and despite naysayers, we actually have a QB - Receiver battery and not just one but likely five if not six. Plus a stable of RBs that range from scatbacks to a nimble bulldozer and a thoroughbred. What's missing currently is a proven OL. All that artillery won't amount to much without breastworks to protect the battery crews from sniper attacks.

The DL must also prove itself. At this time it seems the front 4 guys play great when they're, for wont of a better term, in the mood. If you recall, this attitude allowed USA back into the game and gave one of their players the gumption to get in Tiny's face and say things that set him off. Which could have cost us a game changing penalty when we could least afford it. Now, you can pooh pooh Poly players all you want but if our DL plays that way, they will get their azzes kicked.

So the elements for another USA game in which we just might end up on the losing end is there. However, I for one know darn well CBJ and company will have this team so hyped they'll come out pizzed off at everything. Fans who doubt and question them. USU Aggies who consider the Vols ripe for a MWC colonoscopy with a piece of barb wire attached to a porcupine wearing a camera. Sports writers who spout disrespect at them. Then there's the first game freight train rumble, severe weather thunder, and earthquake shake at Neyland Stadium stirring the Xenomorph blood transfusion Butch has put their bodies through. The team comes out determined to make a statement that the dam that's held back the orange flood will receive it's first dynamiting "today."

So I'm glad the team won't have the overconfident and dangerous disregard for USU that you and other fans exhibit here. Cause it would get us keelhauled by a team that would use our own river and a boat from our own navy to do the job.
