UT worst fans in the country

I may be wrong but I think some of the kid bashing comes from folks who cannot bear to criticize the Coach. After all, they have spend a lot of time and energy defending him and well …” there is only so much a Coach can do”.

With that said, I think that Pearl has done a good job and am willing to give him a couple more years (as if I have any say). However, if he is unable to have more success in the post season then I am not afraid of replacing him.

interesting perspective, I'm sure its some combination of factors. Ya we'll get a better feel for the ceiling with the "recruiter" to the north in the league, and rising expectations for Pearls teams.

i didn't say develop. basketball recruiting is a different beast. i'll give pearl 2 more years and see what happens. i have plenty of criticisms. but i'm patient.

You said it's harder to build a basketball program than football. Yes, basketball recruiting is different. It can change you from being average to great in one year. Football cannot do this.

You're either against him or blindly follow. There is no in between.
Why should that surprise anyone? Pearl essentially said that's the way it should be with his crying to Griffith. If you don't worship him, you obviously hate him. That's his logic.

Holy crap, man!!! That was fricking amazing!! Those are words I couldn't come up with. Just well done!!:clapping::bow2:

No, you said it is easier to become a powerhouse in football than basketball, and that is absurd.

We should be showing improvement. Right now we are sliding.
I guess I disagree... Show me a team that loses a Negedu, a Smith and their best player is currently injured that has done a whole heck of a lot. There aint many. And I'm not willing to bash Pearl based on last year since there were so many freshmen on the team. To me, getting 20 wins and counting out of this team is a job well done.

Didn't you say that you have been shying away from the board. You need to jump back in.
Sorry if what he said was well put. I have complaints about Pearl, but I also have patience with him based on where this program was several years ago.

I understand some of the criticisms of Bruce, but I don't think this is the time for them. If we just had one more experienced big to help balance the offense, rebound, and get Pearl off the floor it would improve us immensely(think E-Man or Crews). If Tyler Smith was here it would help our offense get easier looks just through his penetration, post game, and passing. If Tatum hadn't been suspended/hurt the last few weeks we'd have two wings who could score outside rather than just Scotty, and the pressure from that has clearly got to him. There are a whole lot of things, many of them entirely outside Bruce's control, that had to happen at the same time to have led to this team being so dysfunctional.

Bruce certainly isn't perfect, far from it. I hate the stupid flex as much as the next guy. But every coach has positives and negatives, and Bruce's pluses far outweigh his minuses. Most boards simply do not have someone as articulate as Hat for the wannabe knowitalls to get behind. So if you want to enjoy what little basketball season we have left, you'd be better off just writing it off at this point and letting anything we do in either tournament be a bonus. This team was doomed from the moment Tyler Smith got in the car with those guns, period. A middling seed and however far we get in the NCAAs isn't the end of the world.

Recruiting 3 or 4 kids a year can be harder in the sense that if one player doesn't pan out it has a bigger effect on the team's performance... That I can agree with..

But at the same time, if all three to four pan out, then turning around a basketball program is easier.

you can't be serious

When you decide what you're talking about, then maybe we can debate further.

You just said you agreed that basketball was actually easier to turn into a powerhouse than football; so I guess you would agree with my statement.

Compared to someone clueless enough to say it's harder to build a winner in basketball than football, you bet I am.

What you talkin' bout Willis?

You know its easier to out recruit football national powerhouses, build an 85 man roster full of quality depth at each position to supplement injuries, and collect an elite starting line-up consisting of 22 players, than it is to recruit 2 good years consisting of 3-6 players combined that are in the top 100, and coach them to prominence.

Of course I'm serious. I acknowledge that basketball recruiting is different. But the same evaluation process that goes into basketball occurs in football with many, many more prospects. Thus, I would absolutely submit that assembling a quality class in football is more difficult.
