Vaccine or not?

Further the 2019 AVERAGE hospital occupancy was 65.9%. Add the 25% we talked about as Covid and you get darn close to the 91% mentioned in Septics articles. Granted the specifics for Lee county are probably different than the average, higher I would guess.

Seems like they can handle the normal business even with the Covid surge, with some room to spare. Is it too close for comfort? Probably. But i dont seem them dumping pts for Covid anytime soon, the fear porn is unjustified. Granted that's at this point. But it doesnt help the argument for this spike when the rhetoric hasnt changed between surges when things werent as bad.

Well I defer to your knowledge on employment law seeing as you’re an employer and I’m not. I do kind of get what he’s saying but you’ve seen it in practice so you’d know better than I would.

I actually haven't seen religious exemption in practice, but I have had employees with medical issues we've worked with in the past. We're a small place with people who have been around for a long time so we don't have a lot of issues that get contentious. I try to keep up with the rules, so I know my rights and those of the people that work for me.

Edit: Just to clarify, I don't have a vaccine requirement. I don't know if I'd institute one or not. I'm just giving my opinion, which I consider to be decently informed, on someone who might claim a religious exemption.

Interesting video buried in the comments. It’s probably been shared on here already but interesting nonetheless. Of course, I know nothing about this dude. He sounds like he knows what he’s talking about but so would someone who wrote an episode of MI5 when it comes to spy work. Perhaps he stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.

Well you’re doing something right if you’re keeping your people a long time. Kudos to you.

Very interesting indeed.

We try to keep people around. I'm concerned about the future though. I'm about to sound older than my age, but the young folks don't seem to want to stay at the same job longer than a couple years at a time.

I have spent 7 hours waiting for the ER before Covid thought I cut a tendon in my finger. If you are down the triage list you are down the triage list.

Just curious, but why the ER if they could wait almost 10 hours a piece? If its personal its personal, just seems strange.

They were both admitted. Imagine how strained the resources must be if people who will ultimately be admitted still have to wait 10 hours to be seen. This was two weeks ago, before the **** hit the fan.

Since the Corona bros on here like to throw out anecdotal Covid stories I will share one.

My wife’s cousin’s father died post vaccine. 1st jab he got sick and presented to the ER with stroke like symptoms. Felt better and went home after a battery of tests. Took the 2nd shot and same symptoms returned. This time he did not recover.

🤷‍♂️

Edit: This was the Moderna shot.

Giving people the freedom to make their own healthcare choices without penalty or policies that only effect them would be a great incentive.

There are six hospitals in Less County - 414 beds is the total bed count for Lee Memorial which is one of the hospitals. Put differently, the total covid admissions exceed the total hospital capacity of the a hospital within the system.
Let’s say the other 5 are 75% smaller, that’s an average of 310 per those 5 for a total of 1550 + 414 = 1964 beds in the entire system. So 472 Covid patients out of 1964 possible rooms means 24% of the beds in the Lee Health system are occupied by Covid patients.

Edit: Lee Memorial 414, Cape Coral 291, Gulf Coast 699 and Health Park 461. The other two are specialty hospitals (134 bed pediatric and 60 bed rehabilitation within Lee Memorial). Total of 1865 beds in the main 4, for a 25% rate.
