To be fair there’s a large part of society that has no business in deciding things for themselves let alone anyone else. That would be the category you fall under. Luckily most of us still value our individual freedoms and aren’t inept morons looking to the government to tell us what to do in every aspect of our life.

How do you know what the real numbers are? We already knew Delta was weaker. You want to make this about one factor, the vaccine, when multiple factors have changed. Sorry, math, science, whatever you want to call it doesn’t work that way.

I think that living in a properly functioning society comes with a few requirements. Individual freedoms can often conflict with societal good. My stance has always been that society always ultimately makes the call. It can be no other way.
I, like you, have not had the flu shot in about 20 years; but if I worked for a company that required it, I would take it or quit.
I have no problem with seatbelt laws because the punishment fits the crime. (pretty much none)

I'll agree. I'm not 100% sure how I feel about vaccination requirements to go to a public school (That's taxpayer funded that is) but that's just my personal opinion.
Any private school should be able to require what ever rules they would like to be in place, but that also just my opinion.

So in your opinion do you feel like since Biden was elected that he should have the power to force the 50 states to require the shot? I don't want to make it sound like I am making a this red vs blue thing. I just want to be sure I under your stance and not twisting your words. Since you said "society always ultimately makes the call" I didn't know if you was meaning by society the U.S. as whole or by state to state. Where as you feel who ever the sitting POTUS is at the time no matter his party could require the people to something he felt necessary for the U.S., or if you feel like society was state based where the governor had the power for the people for his state.

Lets say 13 states didn't vote for Jim Bob Cooter for POTUS. He wants to make people wear Bama red on Saturdays because it makes the Russians mad. Should: (A) Jim Bob have the power over all 50 state to force the change, (B) The governors can force the change on a state to state basis depending on how the people of the state voted by majority, or (C) People pick based on the way they feel when they wake up Saturday morning?

I know that's a dumb comparison, but It's the only thing I could think of that's not a super politically charged topic. Again I'm not trying to belittle your response I just want to make sure I am understanding what you fully mean and not just assuming.

I just feel that giving that type of power to the POTUS is a steep slope. I wouldn't trust Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump, or Biden with that set of power IMO. I know they was voted in by the people, but the POTUS outlook sometimes changes while in office. Again thanks for your response.

That's what the wife jokes about. I ask her of a morning how her night was. She always said the Covid unit just sucked the life out of her, but thank God no one has the flu or they couldn't handle the work. Hospital humor I guess.

No positive flu panels in ICU in 18 months. Since we treat a bevy of cases yearly, I find it inexplicable and highly suspicious. We can always look at what’s happening in front of us but we also need to look at what’s not happening.

You realize there have been at least a half-dozen people respond to you or carry on discussions about various benefits of this vaccine while you’ve been insisting that your question cannot be answered, right?

I get that you dealt yourself a **** hand, here, but know when to fold. Pretending that there are no benefits when nearly everyone around you is discussing the benefits just makes you look incurably stupid.

If you honestly don’t know that there are benefits to the vaccine, you should talk to your doctor about it. Either way, you should definitely stop spouting nonsense about it not having any benefits. It makes you look dumb, it makes people who have actual good reasons for not getting the vaccine look bad, and, in very rare instances, it might mislead someone.

Tell you what was funny. We had a little old lady that was going to drop her car off and get a rental. The rental guy come to pick her up, she asks him if he has had his shot and what one he took. All I hear is this little lady cussing this man. I mean letting him have it. She leaves without getting the rental and gets a different repair date. Now I don't know the difference in the shots, but I was told he told her what one he had and he was on his 1st dose and that lady went ballistic. She had two doses and a booster? I thought dear lord they are fighting each other now.

I’m sensitive about where I use my hospital humor. Covid is flu season on steroids. It’s exhausting.

I really feel for the workers. I know one ones job is "easy", but she has come home and just broke down a bunch. She always says she's fine holding it together at work, but once she gets home she has to let it out. I'm not sure where you stand in all this mess. I know my wife walked into work for a year trying to help fight something they new nothing about and was called a hero, then less then a year was told if she didn't take the shot she was a killer.

She said it wasn't that she wasn't for it, its that anything they asked was met with "just take it", "if you don't you don't care about anyone but yourself". Which IMO it a cruel thing to say to someone who risked their life for you not a year ago instead for staying at home in fear like a bunch of other people. I think it fair to ask what side affects it could have before getting stuck.

Either way I wish you the best on your shifts, and wish you healthiness as you guys go into this mess.

Seriously? We can’t post about topics that, as you agree, are directly related regarding the underlying political issues on a politics subforum? Why is it that the politics forum of all places, a subforum that by its very nature lets posters know going in that they will hear differing opinions, is the most heavily moderated board on the entire Volnation site? As a staff member, you are deliberately trying to shut down political discussion of a directly related topic just because I didn’t create a separate thread on it. In other subforums on Volnation, that doesn’t happen.

I could be wrong here, but I think what they was saying is you was making a great point and there is a few threads in the politics sub forum that might net you a better discussion than in this thread. I don't think they was shutting you down from talking here or they would have just deleted your post.
