Thank you. Your opinion is one I was curious about here. I’m studying to become a PA, but obvious your knowledge of medicine in general and experience are well above my own.

May I ask what treatment regimen you recommend for pts who do contract Covid?

For most, routine cold symptom care (plenty of fluids, nasal saline irrigation, steamy showers, guaifenesin if needed for congestion), healthful diet and extra vitamin C, D, and Zinc, get outside and catch some sunlight if the weather permits, ibuprofen for headache/fever/body aches PRN, and light activity/exercise daily if capable.

Nasal steroids (Flonase, Nasacort, et al) twice a day have shown some promise with the smell/taste symptoms.

I usually put anyone with a history of asthma or chronic lung disease on an inhaled steroid, if not already taking one.

I've had 2-3 higher-risk adolescents get MAb infusions, but that may not be of much use (or even warranted) with this new/weaker strain.

One teenager developed MIS last year, spent one day at Children's, received IVIG, and was nearly 100% the next day.

No kids in our entire practice with long-term sequelae.

I think the degree of overreach is pegging out. The medical community has been stepping into my life more aggressively over the last 15 years. I don’t think it’s like it was before you left. I see far more invasive policies now from all institutions of health, it’s become insidious. They continue to narrow down those who don’t acquiesce unquestioningly to any demands.

Take the jab or work is pretty extreme overreach. We do have USC VII but they can deny you for arbitrary reasons. It was really pretty slick how they did the exemptions by making a contract with an exemption in the middle.

Nah. The jab or work and jab or school has been just as "invasive" as before. The anti vax movement was around long before covid - they were marginalized then for many of the same reasons the new wave of Covid vaccines are taking the heat. Not lots of difference or distinction.

I said approximately 20k. The number worldwide is around 18k. For the US it’s over 10k from 15.9m shots, with the majority of those coming from the 2nd shot. Which should obviously raise concerns over the 3rd or 4th.

Only taking the US numbers, that’s roughly 0.06% chance of death. That doesn’t include your odds of myocarditis from the vaccine which you men are more likely to get than they are to be hospitalized with Covid for any reason.

We are a long, long way from there. These people have too many levers of power and control. It would take a complete dismantling of the system and crash for us to even start having those discussions.

Agreed. Like all data it has its issues. The main one here being the possibly of correlation rather than causation due to the fact that people with more comorbidities are more likely to be vitamin d deficient simply because it’s harder for them to get outside.

So I’ll admit it’s hard to know if it’s causation. But we know the correlation is through the roof and we have known for years that vitamin D plays a specific role in the immune system in general and specifically in pulmonary illnesses
